Anyone know where Hopson is?

Nor do I care about "Sparty". Sounds like another user trying to keep the black men down (uneducated) in this country. Sooner or later they wil wake up and realize that basketball is a game, not a living for the vast majority of them.

I'm white and would.give up my college education and good paying job to travel around the country for the next twenty yrs playing basketball for six figures.

Getting a degree in some liberal arts field is probbly a waste of time and pizza delivery is where you and Hopson will be at. There are however many degrees where there are employers lined up today to get candidates. Course I'm sure that IS outside your social circle. Tha'ts OK because WalMart is always hiring.

your ignorance continues and nobody here is shocked. You are absolutely clueless as to the money these guys make overseas, the sponsorships they gain, and the businesses some get invested in for longterm goals.

Your degree would never offer you that opportunity, ever, but there is no need to be jealous or angry.

any jr student in college that is offered a job overseas for 6 figures+ for multiple years, but stays in school for another year to finish the degree and start interviewing for entry level positions is a moron as well.

Stick with bragging about your own supposed $. I'm sure you are loaded. I'm also pretty positive you know very little about a lot.

I think any way you look at it, the facts are like this:

-He's making a good living playing basketball overseas.

-Overseas money/opportunities are the same (or greater) for him if he would of stayed his senior year.

-One day he won't be able to play basketball for a living.

-When that time comes, having a college degree would only open more doors for him.

I don't think any of those points are arguable, so IMO, he'd of been better off staying for his degree regardless if he had 0 shot at the NBA with a stacked class, etc. The only way this changes is if he had some type of family financial trouble.

But on an unrelated note, those of you ****ting on a college degree... :loco:

Degrees are fine. Experience and networking are better. When you are 40, noone will care about you bachelor of arts.

Yeah, it really sucks being me. By the way, if you are doing it, it's not bragging.

Good try but for all the dollars most of these guys make (this is the 1 in a 1000 to begin with actually get paid to play ball),most just spend it all away and within 5 years after they leave the game, they are broke.

I sure wouldn't give up my bachelor's degree and career to make $500k / yr for the next ten years. The investment potential associated with that scenario is awfully unappealing. I'd hate to be set for retirement by the time I was in my early thirties and living off of interest payments, all the while having the opportunity to spend quality time with my family during my best years of my life. It almost makes me puke thinking about having to face such an awful life position.

Money creates the ultimate earning potential, not a piece of paper. He can get a friggin PhD if he wants when he's finished with basketball. Gotta be able to see the forest for the trees.

I've never said anything remotely close to "i've made 6 figures for the last 30 years". that's all you.

Thing is that I know, and you know, that you have probably been stuck in a cubicle for the last 30 and your fake life is better than your real one, which is why you post like a jackwagon so often.

Now, times up. I have another appointment Will.

I don't really understand all the hate on Scotty. The reality of it is that the kid is making a lot more money than most of us (me included) and when the time comes to retire from the game he could very well finish up his degree then. It's not like the guys is gonna need grants or scholarships. You can always go back to school. There is a time limit on your athleticism.

Cubicle no. Office yes. And with the travel I have done, I will accept my "fake life" thank you.

False dilemma...just one more year of free education and he would have had both.

Another year older and one less year spent making big time money. A degree would hold very little value against one year with that kind of earning potential. Opportunity cost.
