Another year older and one less year spent making big time money. A degree would hold very little value against one year with that kind of earning potential. Opportunity cost.

Way too many unknowns to be able to definitively say that. If it was me, I would have stayed the extra year, finished my degree, and worked on the holes in my game to try and make even better money.

I agree, but I'd do it for the sake of my game and not necessarily for my degree. His basketball skills were his meal ticket, not his brains.
