As have all organized religions.

Which is why I do not participate in the church thing. I much prefer studying the Bible on my own and come to my own understanding of God. I find it fosters a better relationship with him than going to church and having other people explain to me how I should interpret the Bible.

This not a "rule" in the Bible as it pertains to salvation. The c of C has come up with this and many other "rules" on their own.
