Anyone see the NOVA special last night:Evolution vs. Intelligent Design

You are taking that verse completely out of context. Paul is explaining that the Gentiles are equally deserving of hearing god's message. In essence what he is saying is that it is your duty as a christian to preach to those who have not been afforded the opportunity to hear the gospel. This is the verse that most missionary work is based upon. What is the reasoning behind this? The belief that those who have not heard, will not be able to believe and belief is the thing that saves you from eternal damnation.

Which brought about hardshell/primitive baptists....

Evolution: The belief that there was nothing, and nothing happened to nothing. Then for no reason, nothing magically exploded creating everything. Then for no reason whatsoever, everything miraculously rearranged itself in to self replicating bits. The self replicating bits then turned into dinosaurs.

Evolution doesn't say one bit of this.

Evolution doesn't say one bit of this.

See!

3 billion years ago the earth was a massive green ocean because of all the iron.

Over time the oceans turned blue, the algae produced oxygen...... Captain Picard saved the time warp continuom something and the slime mixed to make us!

You are a little slimey still.

Don't follow....

This is a good description:

“The God of the Old Testament is arguably the most unpleasant character in all fiction: jealous and proud of it; a petty, unjust, unforgiving control-freak; a vindictive, bloodthirsty ethnic cleanser; a misogynistic, homophobic, racist, infanticidal, genocidal, filicidal, pestilential, megalomaniacal, sadomasochistic, capriciously malevolent bully.”

I should have clarified the context, you are correct.
If Paul is telling all Christians to preach the Gospel to people that have not heard it, then I guess I am confused as to why you think anyone that has not heard the Gospel will go to hell?
Does the fact that you do not believe something that you have never heard, damn you?

It shouldn't, but the bible tells us it does.

He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned. - Mark 16:16

He will punish those who do not know God and do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus. They will be punished with everlasting destruction and shut out from the presence of the Lord and from the majesty of his power. 2 Thessalonians 1:8-9

Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father but through Me. John 14:6

There are plenty more verses supporting this same belief. Let me pose this question to you: Jesus died for our sins, correct? So he died so that we would not go to hell. With me? If it were possible to avoid hell without ever knowing Jesus, then what was the point of him dying on the cross in the first place?

Another verse I found that supports my claim that god DOES want us to fear him:

But I will forewarn you whom ye shall fear: Fear him, which after he hath killed hath power to cast into hell; yea, I say unto you, Fear him. (Luke 12:5)

I came to my beliefs after a thorough study of the bible. It was the bible itself that led to my non-belief.

I believe he was asking you to give a Biblical example of your statement about God being evil.

Really?????

Are we going with scripture...

All the other aside, disbelieving implies a level of knowledge upon which a decision can be made, or active choice. That's a far cry form ignorance.

Clearly penned by an objective reader.

Then what is the purpose of this verse:

Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost. Matthew 28:19

or this one:

And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature. Mar 16:15

If these people are in no danger of hell, then why is this the directive? If non-belief equates safety from hell, then you are basically endangering the immortal soul of anyone you preach the gospel to!!!

I will repeat my question from before, if it were possible to reach heaven without knowing jesus (which he clearly tells us it is not) then what is the point in dying on the cross in the first place?

I will submit that it takes more faith to believe in evolution, than it does to believe in creation.

Question: If man evolved from apes, why are apes still on earth? Are they special ed or something?

Is that so hard to believe?
