Are people really already giving up on Worley??

I haven't given up on Worley but I have decided that until he's 100% healthy, Dobbs should get the start.

+1 Not anything personal against Worley at all. He gives his all, but if you're injured...you're injured. Take the reins Mr. Dobbs and run with it.

I don't understand this whole concept of rooting for one player in particular. You want the guy who gives you the best chance to win in there and if it's Dobbs, then that's the best choice.

It's not about giving up on anybody. It's about winning football games.

These kind of decisions are to be made by coaches, not spectators! Worley has done us good; Dobbs looked good as well. I am willing leave the decision to the coaches who have better knowledge of the situation.

Alex Smith got hurt after doing pretty well at SF. Then Kaepernick took over, outperformed him and got the starting job.

It's not that Worley sucks, he's a so-so QB that isn't terrible. It's just that the ceiling is so much higher with Dobbs than Worley. We're currently almost dead last in the SEC for passing offense. That has to change.

Maybe a bad example....Alex smith is undefeated this yr

I'm not sure that decision was even a good one though. Alex Smith was one of the highest rated QBs in the NFL when they benched him, and he is currently undefeated with Kansas City. Kapernick, on the other hand, has played well at times and also stunk it up at other times. Harbaugh has a huge ego and brought Kapernick in as his "QB of the future" and IMO was just being stubborn. He didn't give a crap how well Smith had played, Kapernick was his guy, and that was it. Salary cap might have been a factor also.

How that all plays out still remains to be seen, but I think the jury is still out.

Let's start the guy that's going to win. Worley has not looked that impressive but has made some key plays.

Dobbs looked good for a half.

I think we can win with either. Let's just win.

OP, do you really think his hand is going to be at 100% in 6 days from now?

No. And if he's not, play Dobbs. The point is everyone is all of a sudden throwing Worley under the bus saying he's a bad QB. Worley looked pretty legit against SC and Georgia. He's not bad enough that people should be ready to bench him. IMO if Worley is healthy, start him against Mizzou, it would be stupid not to.

Is this a joke?

The man led us to our first upset in 4 years and he doesn't play well with an injury against the #1 team in the country and everyone is ready to see him benched??

Good grief, are people stupid or just irrational? Or both?

I was pissed that peterman was still in throwing picks with an injured throwing hand. Same applies to Worley. If you can't throw effectively, you shouldn't be playing. He'll get a shot to get his job back

Calm down you emotional girl. It will be alright and no one gives up on anybody except Dooley. If Dobbs is better, then let the boy play. If whoever is better, then play him.

Worley will always be one of my favorite Vols whether he starts or not. He's proven himself a warrior and a gentleman (that's the kind of student athlete that should make everyone proud).

However, he's been hampered by prior coaching staff not developing him and now that he's a junior it's a pretty large investment to right some of his mechanical problems and mentally prepare him. He needs to be taught to rely more on instinct (you can see the difference when he's rushed and doesn't have time to over think things). Worley needs someone like Cutcliffe to reach his potential and he does have it but this is the middle of his junior year with only one season of eligibility left.

Can Worley get better during this season? YES! He can also progress during the spring and summer but all you have to do is look at Peterman to see how little development time the previous staff spent on them. That is flat-out shameful and neither Worley nor Peterman are responsible for it nor should they be grilled over it. They'll get better if they continue to work.

However, it's harder to unlearn than to learn, and at this point in time, Dobbs looks like our QB.

Worley is serviceable at best. It is what it is. He didn't win the USC game, North, Pig, and our RB's did. That said, he is tougher than nails.

Clearly you didn't read the same thread that I did. Dude's being practically thrown off the team by some people. Which is, to put it nicely, less than justifiable.

No, but I would rather see Worley heal for a week or two. I think a healthy Worley is our best option, but I think Dobbs is better than Worley with a hurt throwing hand.

If you have a mobile qb it presents a lot more problems for the team to defend. We held our own in the 2nd half against Bama.

Not giving up on him but now that the redshirt is burned it is who can move the team. If Worley gets starts and gets off to a bad start out he comes same for Dobbs.

Honestly, Worley was sporadic at best against Ga and SC. The defense and special teams were the main reasons we were able to hang around and have a chance at the end of both games. The tackling on kick/punt coverage, and Palardy's punts flipping field position were crucial. Worley did make some critical plays when he had to, but the offense has continued to be consistently inconsistent...imo

Worley is an excellent backup QB.

Most fans want to see the future.

The top QBs in the conference have threats at running back to help take the pressure off them, right now we don't have one. Help is on the way.
