Are we in?

Florida's SOS isn't better than Michigan's, much less "WAY BETTER."

Yes it is. Florida's opponents have the highest winning percentage of any team's group of opponents in the nation. They are numero uno in the nation. That's a fact.

As a comparison, Michigan is #3 in the nation by this method of comparison.

That's our best argument, no doubt.

Even when Florida got the rematch with FSU in '96, it was because after the close loss at FSU the Gators went out the next week and won the SEC.

Florida also had to win an additional game. They played one more game than Michigan, and oh, by the way, it happened to be against one of the top teams in the country.

So you think a game against 8-4 Western Michigan is tougher than against say ........ 7-5 Texas Tech?

But the actual support in Florida is weak at around 75% compared to the Michigan support in Michigan at 93%. Just thought it was interesting.

I'm sure Florida has a large amount of retirees from the North making up some of that. :birgits_giggle:

I think as much as i hate to say it that yall deserve it, I will be highly P.O. if your not I would hate to see a re-match. But im thinking their going to do what we all knew they were going to do and is give it to them damn wolverines

What do you guys think? I think Florida looked great tonight, especially coming back after Arkansas scored 21 unanswered.

I imagine it will come down to the human voters. Do they leapfrog us over Michigan?
I hate UF... I've said that here before. They are in my top 5 most hated teams.

However, Michigan does not deserve to go. If they do, the BCSCG will prove absolutely nothing except that one team or the other is the best team in the Big10... in a very, very down year. Wisconsin is the only other decent team and OSU didn't play them or else all three could easily be one loss.

It is my opinion that UF or even L'ville deserves a shot more than Michigan... CFB would be better served even if Boise State got their shot rather than Michigan.

If another SEC team gets torqued again after running the gauntlet... then they ought to threaten to pull the plug.

I have a feeling though that non-Big10 coaches may decide they don't want to see a rematch between two teams from the same conference.

BTW, I don't think OSU has seen or can handle a defense as good as UF's.

What if the SEC withdrew from the NCAA and played a round robin schedule and then a championship at the end? Then they could declare their own national champion. It would be hilarious. Maybe we could start selling beer at the games, too.

I think that Michigan is in. I think that Michigan has played better football this year. And..if their loss had come to some other highly ranked team besides OSU...I would say they deserve it. But, I don't like the rematch...it doesn't make sense to me....and I hope Florida makes it....but I don't think they will.

As you know, SOS isn't about 2 games. It's about 12 (or 13) games.
As mentioned, Michigan's best two wins came against paper tigers- ND and Wisconsin.

UF played 3 teams with a losing record. Michigan played 5.

UF played 6 teams with 8+ wins. Michigan played 5.

Those teams were for UF: USM, UT, LSU, Aub, UGA, 9-3

For UM: Cent Mich, ND, Wis, PSU, OSU

By those measures, UM doesn't compare well to UF.

Overal opponent records: UF 86-60, UM 81-61.

The WCU game killed UF's SOS both by being 1AA and 2-10.

If the SEC left the BCS, it would break apart. Same for Big 10 or Pac10 and maybe the Big12.

I hate UF... but what do you base this on?

Who exactly has Mich or OSU for that matter played? They've beaten up on the Big 10 in a down year.

OSU caught a not so great Texas team early. Texas didn't make the Big12 CG... and the Big 12 is weak.

Michigan beat a not so good ND team.

The only other decent team in the Big 10 is Wisconsin... PSU got beaten by ND.

Wisconsin didn't play an OOC opponent with a pulse nor OSU. OOC they played Bowling Green, Western Illinois, San Diego St, and Buffalo.

Again, the only thing a UM-OSU rematch would prove is who the best team in the Big 10 is... in an down year.

I wasn't really being serious

I'm dead serious.... and in case you missed it, I despise UF.

It is already a farce that half the teams have a conference championship game while OSU doesn't even play the 3rd best team in their conference this year. The degree of difficulty added by that CG is tremendous. After you run the gauntlet... you get to play the best other team in the conference.

Any system that would put UM in a rematch for the BCS is ridiculous... and I actually think UM is the better team on a neutral field between those two.

It would amount to a Big10 CG... not a national championship. If the Big 10 wants a CG... then they should add ND or a MAC team and have one.

The Big 10 should play a round robin schedule like the Pac-10 does if they do not want to add a championship.

I wasn't really being serious.

i would listen to any arguement that would result in drinking beer at the game, serious or not.

however, i would probably end up on here asking for legal advice or lawyer recomendations.

dude im with a 150% ive been saying this ALL YEAR LONG

Congrats Law Gator.I hope UF gets into the NC game but i'm not to sure how it will come out. I'm thinking lamb being lead to the slaughter. Oh well Good Luck!!

That would be ten mandatory games... Which is insane.

It's insane, but so is a team going through the Big 10 schedule without playing Ohio State or Michigan. That would be like UT scheduling Ole Miss, Miss St., Vanderbilt... well there aren't enough crappy teams to equal the crappy teams in the Big 10 this year. Anyway, I think it's unfair that Wisconsin didn't have to play both the other good teams in the conference. Also, I think last year Purdue didn't have to play either UM or OSU. I think if UT (and countless other teams) had played a Big 10 schedule minus Ohio State and Michigan, we would be undefeated presently.

Thanks chief. I think the final BCS ranking is going to be ultra-close. Interesting thing is that the sense I get from reading media reports is that if Florida eeks it out by a slim margin, then no one is really going to complain that much.

But if Michigan eeks it out against Florida. seems like a lot of folks will think that to be very, very unfair.

My personal feeling is that Florida deserves it more, but only by a little bit. Can't say Florida is so much more deserving that Michigan as to make it an obvious decision. On the other hand, I do think Florida has at least AS good a case to make as Michigan, no matter what the criteria.

The Big 10 should play a round robin schedule like the Pac-10 does if they do not want to add a championship.

The Pac 10 just started doing that this year with the 12 game schedule. When the calendar rolls back around (in 2008?) you can bet they won't stay with the round-robin, either.
