Are you 100% certain about Miltons abilities?

I am more concerned with the OL performing up to standard than I am Milton. If he has time and protection, look out.

I think he was in his own head in 2021 because he was running CJH offense at the pace required, but the game hadn't slowed down for him yet. I think we saw in his last couple of games that it has now slowed down.

But did it slow down? To me, outside of a deep ball here and there, it didn't look that great. At least in the 2 games that he started. In the Vandy game he only had 150 yards passing and I believe was under 100 yards most of the game. And against Clemson, he had far too many 3-outs and Clendon essentially controlled the clock.

He has all the ability in the world...but can he consistently hit deep targets is the question, I think he's gotten alot better but we'll see, he's not really a runner as Hooker was, Hendon made some big plays for us with his legs, can Milton do that?
Man, Hooker was a breath of fresh air. Even in tight situations, he just had a way of coming in clutch. I never counted us out of a game with him. The Bama game probably took 5yrs off my life, but I wasn’t shocked that we won.

Hooker was the most cerebral QB we’ve had since Peyton, although Dobbs always had a way of keeping a play alive, particularly with his legs.

Milton is physically capable of being a super star, we just have to see if it finally clicks for him or not.

A NY6 bowl against a top 10 ranked power 5 champion is not meaningless.

Exactly, and that attitude about big bowl games, and also the regular season, is the reason I absolutely despise the playoff system. It cheapens every game outside the playoffs and doesn’t actually prove anything.

I would've loved to had seen Dobbs with Heupel

I am watching some pretty in-depth breakdowns of the Heupel scheme, and I am realizing how potent Milton might be with those WRs split to the boundary.
His unreal velocity will create some quick yards with the route choices creating lanes of open field. I say that knowing his zip can get out of hand, but it really seems he has it under control. He will only face two defenses that are equal to the Clemson defense he picked apart, and they both come during the second and third months of the season.

Hendon Hooker showed how to get it done, and I think JMilton has been putting in his reps and the study. He knows this offense, the WRs know their options to stymie the coverages, it will be a good year.

Certain about his abilities? 100% certain about his physical abilities. He is a physical freak of nature. I pray he has the mental part figured out now. If he does, we are going to do great things this year.

As long as he doesn’t run out of bounds as time expires…oh wait.

You still on that? Let it go joe has done nothing but be a great leader and teammate since that point… mistakes happen I don’t see you bashing Tillman for dropping the game winning pass joe threw the play before…

He has made similar Joe Burrowesque improvement; lets hope Ty Buchner doesn't do the same.

Definitely sold on his talent and being the definite starter week 1.

However, although I'm much more confident after the Orange Bowl, I'm not completely sold on his ability to consistently make the crucial plays that will win us close games. Our last QB is leaving some enormous shoes to fill.

I hope my perspective changes after the first few games.

I believe in Joe and I would be thrilled if he turned himself into a first round draft pick this year. He’s definitely got the physical tools to be great in the NFL.

SHOW me a pic of him being OOB before contact or IT DID NOT HAPPEN. You are on the clock.

Just watched the Orange Bowl highlights. I think its clear his throwing abilities and accuracy and understanding of the offense have improved since 2021. But he was sacked quite a bit in that game and many of them seemed like situations where Hooker would have escaped and made something out of nothing. We are going to miss Hooker's mobility next year, even if Milton is capable throwing.

This is kind of what concerns me with Milton. First he has to make the right decisions which I’m confident he will. Second you have to have the mental toughness to compete when games are close or possibly when a break goes against you. I have every confidence in his physical ability. I’m really coming around to him as a leader; I think Clemson really showed he’s capable of being that guy. Having those qualities and having that ice water in your veins like Hooker, Clausen etc in hostile environments in tight situations is very rare.

I watched the Orange Bowl again last night. It served to temper my expectations for Joe Milton this year. I hope he lights it up, but I'm in wait and see mode.

No they weren't but he also had a month to prepare where normally he'll have a week so we'll see. Hope he can keep it up.
I think a lot of you guys that are saying this aren’t taking into consideration that Clemson also had a month to prepare for Milton. It works both ways.
