Are you people serious?

I was wondering how long it would be before I saw a "I'm going to find something else to do on Saturdays" post.

Thanks for letting us know.
I'm sure your wife loves you as you sit on your butt watching football all day getting fat! Thanks for letting us know your total dedication as an armchair quarterback!

Blah, blah, blah typical telling people how to fan after an embarrassing loss. Get off your high horse. Let’s address your points.

1). This isn’t 1994 anymore. Peyton didn’t get $8 million to come play QB. In all fairness, Nico has only made a handful of great throws. Sorry but we are seeing it year after year young QBs coming in and playing great. Nico is a below average QB right now. Doesn’t mean he won’t improve. But he isn’t our Bryce Young like we all thought.

2) We call out bad play when it’s deserved. It doesn’t matter if a player is a VFL. That doesn’t absolve them or make them immune to criticism. Davis isn’t good and neither is Heard. Constant flow of talent and continuity? Welcome to modern college football. That’s how it is. You either adapt or die. Simple as that. This is year 4 and our OL looks as bad as a Butch Jones OL.

3) you can believe that if you like. I do not bet. I am the worst gambler there is. My anger is fueled by the fact that this team is a paper tiger. We had two weeks to prepare against a middle of the pack SEC team and we got embarrassed. I am angry because our $9 million a year coach got schooled by a coach that was essentially dead and buried. I am angry because we have only scored 25 and now 14 against teams with a pulse.

If you are completely happy and fine with what you just saw for our team then fine. Good for you. Others, including myself, are not and expect much better. But don’t tell others how to fan. So there, add to your ignore list Nancy.

Does the fact every other team in the top 10 struggled like us against perceived weaker competition not give you a chill pill?

Bad games happen. Even the juggernauts of the sport like Alabama and Georgia suffer from it. Why not wait and see how the team responds from a setback rather than writing the obituary? If we struggle again against a not so great Florida team you would be justified in freaking out. But one bad game when every other team struggles shouldn't cause you to lose your mind.

We truly have some of the dumbest and disloyal "fans" in all of sports. I think one of the things that I enjoyed during the first weeks of this season is not having to read the bile of these type of threads/posts. WORST ONE LOSS TEAM???

Alabama was dominated by Vanderbilt

Old Miss was beaten by Kentucky.

Missouri was obliterated by Texas A&M

We dominated Oklahoma

Georgia was beaten by the team that lost to VANDERBILT.

Will all of you "fans" that have been pacing the floor waiting for this team to stumble to act like this, just go back to wherever you were hiding. There is nothing wrong with being upset with a loss. There is nothing wrong with criticizing bad play or coaching for a game. But to act like some of the so called "faithful" of this fanbase since a tough loss is ridiculous.

Are you guys mad because you placed a big bet on the game and lost your money? I have said from day one that the transfer portal, NIL and, worst of all, sports books would completely kill college sports in general. Here is the proof.

1) Criticism because the QB that got the big NIL deal isn't a world beater AS A FRESHMAN IN HIS SIXTH START. You would have called for Peyton's head his freshman year.

2) The constant outflow of talent to other teams and constant inflow of talent creates even less continuity. We bring in the heralded left tackle who has not lived up to his NIL value at all. This "fanbase" was all over one of the few loyal players in Dayne Davis at Oklahoma, but Heard didn't exactly tear it up at Arkansas.

3) I absolutely believe that the venom of the dark side of this forum is fed by the anger at losing bets to be even more irrational and vile than before. This is absolutely insane. This is no longer acceptable and the sports that some of us have enjoyed for decades isn't worth watching because of outside influences and insane "fans".

Please flame away so I can fill my ignore lists once again.
I agree with all your points except the NIL “killing” college sports. IMO this has been the most exciting season of my life time. Vandy beating Bama is just the proof in the pudding.

Things will continue to get more even and I love the idea of every game being a battle. Sure the era of dynasties might be over but is that really such a bad thing?

No it doesn’t. Why? Because I am not a fan of those other teams. I don’t donate money to those other teams. No don’t spends thousands and thousands of dollars on those other teams. Other top 10 teams struggled? So what?

We were made to believe we had the second coming of Peyton Manning. A Heisman level QB who was gonna light up college football. Has he? Not even close. I am not writing an obituary for the team. And that’s rich coming from a guy who has said he only watches TN when they are good and then thrashes the team and coach when they play bad.

Sure you're not a fan of those other teams but they are our competition. Even if our team is objectively flawed, if all our opponents are even more flawed than we are then we'll be national champs. It's not about being perfect it's about being better than the opposition. I'm not tripping about the Arkansas game because I haven't seen anything from our opposition that concerns me.

With regard to Nico he's a first year starter. Him struggling at times should be expected. If you thought he was gonna play flawless every game this season then that's a you problem not a Nico problem. To me Nico looks like a super talented young player. He'll make some breathtaking plays and some bone headed plays. It's come with the territory when dealing with young players. The key from him is does he grow from here on out. If he continues playing like this all year then you would be justified in your criticism. But if he improves then he'll be doing what all great players do. Which is become better with experience.

Maybe you should take a chill pill and enjoy the ride. There are always a few bumps in the road on the journey to greatness.

My problem is with the extremely bad play calling the last two games. He's gotta fix it or it's going to be a long year. If we just had to lose a game this year I'm glad it was Arkansas. Now win out and everyone forgets this game ever happened.
What the hell happened to the plays we were running two years ago? Any chance we get to see that offense again? Maybe with MacIntyre or Brandon? This is still the watered-down "Milton offense."

I mean if we look objectively teams are now able to get players they previously were not able to. Without an NIL deal Vandy doesn’t get their QB and they don’t beat Bama. Without the NIL a lot of teams that preciously wouldn’t have gotten recruits are now able to get them.

Look at SMU for a prime example. Look at their recruiting. Look at them building the dynasty they have always wanted since getting thwarted by an unjust death penalty.

Maybe. But I am willing to bet way more often than not, that at the end of the year, you are gonna see the same teams at the top you always do.

1: redshirt freshman so he was here all last year practicing also but yeah he looked more like a true freshman. He’ll get better but he’s got a long way to go.
2: One of the “few “ loyal players! Not sure why you’re taking a shot at the majority of the team. You mad or Something?
3: I didn’t bet on it but I’m pretty disappointed.
Thought we’d gotten passed the losing in an embarrassing way times.
Losing is gonna happen, losing because the other team played a heck of a game and losing because you played like hot garbage is 2 different things.

This right here. That’s what I want to know. Why is our tempo much slower now?
You need to watch, Blue Chip Breakdown.
I have a much better understanding of what happened now than I did. He just did passing plays.

There was several times we probably had six, and several times more reciever’s were open.

We executed hardly any because:
O line didn’t block
A RB or Tight Ends didn’t make blocks
Nico’s decision making was slow
Nico was to slow getting the pass off
Penalties
Etc.
Yeah play calling needs to be less predictable, especially in the running game and more creative
But we , if we execute, score 2-3 more TD’s easily

All fan bases have this subset of fans. It’s not unique to Tennessee. It shows up and rears its ugly head when sky-high expectations come tumbling down.
I’m obviously a GA fan and I 100% agree with you. I have absolutely seen this in the GA fans. A good bit since playing for the NC in 2017, but it has absolutely skyrocketed since actually winning in 2021. It can be very aggravating because I’ve seen it with people I personally know, people that in the past have ridiculed GA football and picked at me for being a GA fan. Oh yeah, but now they act as if and even pretend that they are lifelong GA fans.

Well, let's see. I called Dayne Davis a loyal player because he us busting hus hump every day in practice, busting his hump when he plays, and he is doing it without a big NIL deal. He didn't sit out a game with an "injury" to get more money.
I think you might want to look at the number of upsets this weekend and you might see that parity is very different now thanks to the portal and NIL. One other thing. I was actually looking at team total statistical rankings before the game and the Arkansas D is actually ranked in the top ten in multiple categories. Nico is a redshirt Freshman you are correct. But he played very little in actual games. Being in charge of the team is a bit different and this offense is very difficult to master. He missed several open receivers due to the pressure and environment. Am I happy about this loss, not at all. Am I writing off the season, absolutely not.
I have posted multiple times that I go into every game expecting a win. If we win, I am ecstatic. If we lose, I am upset/disappointed. All of that resets and repeats for the next game. I am a fan and look for reasons to cheer the team. I can't figure out "fans" that look for reasons to bash/complain about the team constantly. To each their own. You do you, I'll do me.

Yes. They are serious. Unfortunately. We have one of the biggest collections of cryass chicken littles on the planet. When times get tough, these are not the people you want in the foxhole with you. They’re weak.

You make some assumptions that in reality you don’t know. You may be right or you may be wrong, I don’t know either.
As for as me , when they do well I’ll say they did well.
When they stink and lose to an inferior team, I’ll say it.
I don’t look for reasons to complain. They are right out in front of me, no need to go looking.

Yeah, something is off and has been since Hooker and Golesh left. The lack of creativity and ability to keep a defense guessing is concerning. The NC state game had some wrinkles but the last two games have had nothing.

NIL gets a bad wrap. It is the combination of the "no sit out" transfer rules and NIL. In fact, the transfer rule is the REAL problem and has created the transfer portal.

It is going to create greater parody because now schools like even Vanderbilt can go hunt the MAC, Sunbelt, MWC, FCS, or possibly even the ACC and Big12 ranks to find players that are proven and onboard them to their team to become competitive (like they did with Pavia and New Mexico State).

The Saban-like gauntlet where Alabama just loaded their roster and beat everyone by 4-5 TDs each season is gone. Vols fans should be happy about that.

The B1G and the SEC are going to be the landing place and any major coach or player that does well in the lower leagues is going to get calls from a program (or programs) in those leagues looking to turn things around.

Only reason Rommel ever lost to Monty was because Montgomery sat on his behind in Egypt until he had such a large force and supply advantage thatched couldn’t lose. Guy was an overcautious, overrated, and hesitant General. See Market Garden and the Faliese Gap for more examples
I don't disagree with you. However, the blowhard also had good sense. He made sure his troops practice the safest field hygiene possible under the circumstances. He made them regularly perform calisthenics, and integrated as much fresh fruits and vegetables in their diet as possible, again under the circumstances. Rommel, like other German generals, believed the natural hardiness of the German soldier would overcome opponents in and of itself. The point is, Vols have good coaches (generals), so do our opponents. Consequently, we win battles, and we lose battles., just like military generals.

Flame on, but look at the talent and experience at some positions and explain how we could be classified as a tile contender. Some fans are able to evaluated the status of our player and face the truth of our talent and experience. Some fans want to pull the sheet over their eyes and threaten to place other poster on ignore.

Hate for folks to learn lessons the hard way but sometimes it’s necessary. There is no question about “rat poison” being real. Upon reflection I believe they had become enamored with their press clippings and hearing everybody saying how invincible they looked. I’m convinced that the SEC is balanced enough that you can lose any game on the schedule if you don’t show up and we flat did not show up. Undisciplined play on both sides of the ball and coaching was questionable. Credit Arkansas for not having a single turnover which had been a big problem for them. On to Florida and hope the team and coaches learned something last night.
Apparently our offense is just really bad

It certainly was in the first half. That made about 8 straight quarters of subpar football on offense. They showed signs of waking up in the second half and overtime. Let’s see if that continues Saturday. If it doesn’t, they’ll be in trouble.
