'25 Arizona Transfer IOL Wendell Moe (Tennessee)

BOOM!

Really strong, 340lb road grader in our offense that loves to run just not working for ya? 1 sack allowed doesnt hurt.

I ran into a few of the old s&c crew bc Frost is back in Orlando and coach Beckton re-upped, and we talked about Heup.

They said he’s added so many new wrinkles to the run game that it’s unrecognizable.
I can’t wait to see this run game with an absolute LOAD at Guard. OOOOMYGOD

We actually don’t know if I’m wrong. Won’t be the first time or the last time.

I stand by my opinion. He is too big and heavy footed for our offense. He has a ton of experience though and that is something we will lack at guard.

This year, Heupel has been forced to implement way more pull ,counter, and trap bc we don’t have the bulldozers to move people. It’s actually been genius how he has changed his entire run game around. Makes me optimistic that he can change things that have usually been his norm.

We can reasonably assume you are wrong. The coaches have spent years developing the ability to scout for the traits they want and know intimately what a good OL looks like. You assuming that your opinion, with none of that ability whatsoever, is somehow just as valid as theirs, is simple arrogance.

We pulled a lot in Hookers senior year. Didn’t do it as much last year under Milton.

I was impressed with Mays a few times this season as he was able to snap the football, pull and get to his spot quick enough that Sampson wasn’t waiting on him.

Where did I once say my opinion is more valid than theirs? Good job with the straw man gaslighting. Secondly, you know nothing about my past and what I did.
Lastly, message boards are for opinions. It’s why we are here.

It’s easy to respond to ANY topic on our football team with “the coaches know best”.

If Moe works out, great. It won’t be the first time I was wrong. We will find out in the fall.

Mays has gotten recognition this season for a reason. He’s obviously not perfect or an elite day one draft talent, but man it’s awesome to see how hard he has worked and improved in his time here.

He’s done a good bit to hide our deficiencies on the o-line thru scheme.

In the video that I watched of him he didn't pull much at all because that wasn't Arizona's scheme. What I did see was a guy that could get out front in their screen plays and engage defenders quickly. He was really great using a gallop step technique to close with the LT or C to combo block. I didn't see him give up any sacks and his pass blocking footwork looked above average. He rarely was off of his feet and seems to always keep his hips behind him and doesn't lose arm extension. When he did hit he ground, he was up quickly. That is one of the markers that every recruiter or scout is looking for in IOL. How fast can he get up when he goes down. Moe is a bouncer not a roller. Bouncers pop up, rollers have to wallow to get upright again. IMO, he will be a very good gap scheme blocker. IMO, he has an opportunity to give us another pulling option based on his sound footwork. He has average speed but his technique is very sound and he doesn't waste motion.

Would be cool to have Snoop Dog in Neyland for a game. Iirc, Snoop has a son who committed to one of the LA schools, UCLA or USC. Great to have Moe. Welcome!
At one time his son was committed/signed to UCLA but he quit after a year to take up modeling or acting full time.

To my untrained eye, that video made him appear very quick off the whistle for a man of his size.
