Nah, there won’t be a contract extension extension for Napier with a win and he won’t get canned with a loss - at least not yet. But his getting canned is imminent.

Of course I hope the Gators somehow win this weekend but I’m definitely not expecting it.

Heck I remember last year when we had a corner, the last line of defense on the play, try to push a FL RB down since he didn’t want to tackle him.

That was definitely a defining play in that game. I was proud of how he redeemed himself after that and became one of our best defenders. Unfortunately, his injury changed the course of the year when we basically had to play zone the the rest of the way.

Yes, it has been, but we have a week to figure it out, and as I post elsewhere, UF does not have the DL hosses that Arkansas has. You have to have really good interior DL to pull off the 3-2-6. Arkanas DL >>> FL DL

I think Florida and Arkansas are similar. I think Arkansas has a better defense, I think Florida has a better offense.

I’ve picked TN to win this game because I don’t trust Napier and I don’t trust UF’s defense. But Florida is plenty talented. A decent coach could go 9-3 with this group.

Etienne was the biggest portal loss yet ironically that’s probably UF’s deepest position. Remember, every guy lost in the portal was replaced by a guy from the portal. UF definitely used the portal to upgrade at WR with Dike and Badger being their two best WR’s by far.

Look, I’m not saying this is the 08 Gators by any means, but a competent coach could make this team a contender. UF doesn’t have a competent coach, which is why I’m picking TN to win fairly easily.

I think people underestimate how bad Napier and staff is, and I think people overestimate how “bad” UF’s talent is.

I haven;t underestimated how bad his staff is at all. :)

I am also not saying Florida is completely bereft of talent, but I am also seeing that many are still underestimating Vol talent. Heupel has recruited in or near the top ten every year and we have some amazing pickups from the portal. I think we are the 3rd or 4th most talented in the SEC ATM. I could be wrong about that, but talent is way better than Pruitt left it

We have one of the best fan bases in the country, but you can tell who are the soft, front runners of the group when things didn’t go well.

That really isn’t saying much with who has been coach. Since UT was ranked #1 in the first CFP poll of 2022, they have gone 7-7 in SEC play. That includes being upset in 2022, 2023, and 2024, all road games.

I get how lopsided the history of the series is but the last two times we met UF as clear favorites at home, we won. I’m fairly certain we weren’t favorites in 2018(maybe we are but clearly shouldn’t have been), and 2020. Sure you can say the 2022 game got too close at the end but who cares, we still won. At some point, there’s going the dam is going to break in this series and UT is going to beat the **** out of UF. All signs point to it being tomorrow night imo.

Yes, Billy Napier is playing for his job. Yes, he could beat us and still get fired... that does not change the fact that if he loses to us he is almost definitely gone. A win against us gives him a chance because looking at their schedule unless they beat us they are very unlikely to get bowl-eligible. They literally have 0 layups on their schedule. Kentucky and FSU only get them to 5 wins. Thats their only remaining opponents not in the top 13. As stated before FSU is a rivalry game and if they go in that game with 5 wins FSU will do everything they can to win that game. I guarantee UCF, Miami and every team in the SEC they played will be sharing info with FSU for that game.

We are not near the weakest team of the ranked teams they will face. But, given the history between the teams and us coming off a loss and them of a win this is their best time to suck it up and turn their season around. EVERYONE knows this. I am glad he wasn't fired yet I want us to be the team that put the nail in. Because I'm tired of the close losses and flat out robberies. I hate UGA and Bama extremely bad but a lot of that is because I live in Chattanooga We have had rivalries with not just those schools but those states from the streets to the field since I was in middle school. They are more like somewhat respected rivals. I can actually find people from those fan bases I get along with and can have constructive football conversations with. For Florida? Outside of the few miracle Gator posters on these forums, I have never met a Florida fan I liked. I really think the gators that post on here are secret moles.

And we soft, front runners usually end up being right in the end when it involves getting rid of an underperforming coach. Be better if for once, you all would just heed to the elders sooner instead of waiting until it is too late.

I shouldn't expect too much from "fans" on here who try and buddy up with rival gator fans.

@Lawrence Wright has been on this board a long time , and is one of the smartest posters on here. It’s not hard to buddy up w/ anyone, regardless of the fan base, when they are capable of having rational conversation about college football, the current state of our football program and athletic department as a whole.
