Arkansas Hires Chaney and Pittman

I liked Pittman and so did the recruits and players but as said his blocking scheme doesn't work with CBJ offense so we had to find someone else. I'm sure his guy will do great, they have had some good backs in the last few years and they didn't give up to many sacks either. I'm glad to see Chaney getting a good job.

Weird hiring going on...
UW coach goes to Arkansas but doesn't bring most his staff.
Get's our former OC and OL coach and we may end up with the WR coach out of UW.

I liked him, too. There were some head scratching calls on 3rd downs, but I get the feeling that some of that was on our QB and not the play call. I have no way of knowing, but I am not sure our QB always made the correct decision on 3rd down. I was also frustrated with calls in last year's UK game with a QB coming back from a broken thumb.

Overall, though, Chaney knows what he is doing and is a heck of an offensive mind. I remember last year's UGA game, and he schemed well to get Rivera open. Wish him luck except against us.

Good post. This sums it up for me, the undeniable production, yet lapses and frustration, produced from our offense.

If true great hire for Arkansas, Pittman's amazing work to turn our O line into one of the top ones in the country last year says a lot about him as a coach. Yet CBJ didn't see it. Doesn't suprise me.

I always suspected that the 3rd and short situations that turned into long pass plays were on Bray. Wouldn't the scheme send a receiver down field to open space for the shorter pass?

Excellent! Hopefully, Coach Chaney can continue his recent trend and lead the Hogs to three consecutive seven loss seasons.

please do research before you post.

Our offense this year...

2012 Averaged 36.2 points per game

2012 289 Total First Downs

2012 1,924 Total Rushing Yards

2012 3,787 Total Passing Yards

2012 Allowed 8 Sacks

We led the SEC and were fourth in the NCAA allowing an average of 0.67 sacks per game. We also ranked 16th in the country in passing offense, 19th in total offense, 23rd in scoring offense and 33rd in passing efficiency.

Offense was never our problem. Our problem is we had one of the worst Defenses in the league

Both guys are good hires for them. Chaney might not actually fit Jones' style and may not have been retained anyway so idk if his loss will hurt us too much, but losing Pittman definitely hurts.

While I agree Pittmans offensive line was strong(well seasoned smart quick offensive lineman have a tendency to look good) and he was probably a good hire I got really frustrated several times on third down when we only need 5-8 yards for a first and we threw it deep with very low percentages of completing it...we did that SEVERAL times....and that falls on the OC...Jim Cheney knows football but I felt he lost control of Tyler Bray at some point...Pittman---good hire---Chaney---average especially with a run first head coach...

I agree with that, very spot on about losing control of Bray. Like I said in my post, Chaney is not a big loss. Doubt Jones was going to keep him anyhow, not really his style. He isn't a bad hire for Arkansas though.
