Around the SEC

I think its a good move, something really neat about Hoover! Hoover doesn't have all the strip bars and other junk, but at my age I just want to go see some quality baseball. :)

Exactly! I don't go for the other stuff. I go to sit for 12 hrs and get sunburned. Couldn't care less about the environment of the city. After all day in the sun, I don't have the energy to go out even if I wanted to.

Looks like Sourh Carolina will advance. They're up 8-1 over UNC Wilmington in the 8th.

Ouch

@KendallRogersD1: Texas. Texas cares. https://t.co/NvMwzMXzYn

Wherever Sully ends up, one thing is certain, his paycheck will be much larger next season. The Dan McDonnell contract is going to change the pay structure within the industry.

I personally believe all things equal Sully would prefer to stay at UF but this is the perfect leverage opportunity for him and a very interesting decision for Jeremy Foley to make.

KR better delete the tweet above

@KendallRogersD1: Kevin O’Sullivan is going to be at Florida for a very very long time. That’s all I will say for now. https://t.co/7Eym3kfMwP

Interesting.
I've heard people absolutely sure he's leaving and people absolutely sure he's staying.
I wonder if he even knows or will permit himself to think about it before his season ends

I agree about him wanting to stay. He's an east coast guy through and through and a FL "native" having grown up there. It's possible that in 3 weeks the two highest paid coaches in the country will have 0 NC's between them. Sully and McDonnell will both have more chances to win one but this may be the best opportunity both have had up to this point. It's not often you have the pitching staff and depth that UF has this year.

Looks like Sully is staying put as is Jim Schlossnagle at TCU. It's rather enjoyable seeing UTjr's arrogance blow up in their face. They truly believe money and the "privilege" of living in TX are the only things people are interested in. Newsflash, your state isn't that great and an extra $400k is relative.

400k is relative? You're rich bro.

Relative means all things considered in an environment. Money doesn't go as far in California as it does anywhere else as we all know. $400k for him would still be a good raise and in TX he wouldn't lose it all but I guarantee its more expensive to live in Austin than it is Gainesville.

We're not talking California.

I don't doubt Gainesville is cheaper. Austin is beautiful and Gainesville is a craphole. That could factor as well.

100k maybe a good argument but 400k to a baseball coach is absolutely enormous.

Sully will be getting a large raise at the end of this season. There is also smoke that some facility upgrades were promised

There is no way Austin is cheaper than Gainesville. A rural, north FL town vs one of the fastest growing cities in the country. With the amount of tech and California based companies moving to Austin the real estate prices will soon rival out there if they haven't already.

The $400k is not life changing money that you suck it up and take it even if you don't want to relocate your family. There's something's that are way too hard to pass up. Continuing to make $700k (which he won't) and living in your home state and not uprooting your family is worth more than $400k to some people. It's not like Sully will struggle on the salary he's making now.

Edit: misread your post to say you doubt G'ville is cheaper than Austin hence my rant haha.

You can live pretty large in Texas off of $1M.... even in Austin. Heck, you can live really well on $400k. Real Estate in suburban Austin is booming but the prices are no comparison to California.

I realize they're not Cali prices I was just using the real estate isn't the same everywhere argument to offset a pay increase. I'm sure he'd still have money leftover in Austin even after "higher than Gainesville" real estate. I was just saying I don't believe $400k is something you make a drastic life change for unless you just hate where you're at.

No one ever said real estate is the same everywhere. I don't believe it was ever implied. That being said, 400k is a huge increase.

I get your point brother but that's a pretty big number to most people.

Also, based on the recent salary increases from some other schools, Texas may offer significantly more to get who they want.

If you're already making $700k and know UF will make a decent counter offer then the number between what TX will pay and UF becomes more like $200k at best. I'm assuming TX wouldn't pay O'Sullivan more than the $1.1M they paid Garrido but maybe they would. I'd have trouble paying a guy who's never won a title, more than a 5x NC coach.

One more SEC coaching change and CDS will be in the top half of the conference in terms of seniority after just five years. Tough business to be in.

WOW...he just signed a three year extension in 2015. Tough business indeed.

200k is a lot of money and like I said Austin TX is far more desirable than Gainesville.
