Even with poor recruits his team is out performing our top recruiting classes. He must be doing something right. No he’s not beating the top teams, ie. osu, whisky, but he is overachieving. Not a bad option. At least he has been a head coach in a power 5 conference.Since taking the job and recruiting the 65th ranked class he has since gone 45, 38 and 48.
You don't get to have it both ways. If you protested Schiano because of his "involvement" in the Penn State scandal, then you don't get to be for the hiring of Briles who was way more instrumental in his sexual assault scandal than Schiano was. Pick a side, either you're in the majority, or you aren't and should admit to being an hypocrite when it came to hiring Schiano. I'm not necessarily directing this reply to just you, but also to all those who think this is the right move. Tennessee will get crucified in the national media for the exact reasons listed above, which will make this program even more of a joke than it already is and will cement the reputation of this fanbase as a bunch of dumb hillbillies. The man has built winners, is a genius on offense, would crawl here on broken glass for the job, and we could get him for a good price. Baylor had to admit that Briles did not violate their policies and they paid him his buyout. His name is tied to a bad situation but nobody has proved he violated any rules or laws. If we want to win, and don’t want to spend a shizload of cash, he’s our guy.
If Briles is radioactive so is any big name coach in college football. ALL coaches push the limit of what they are suppose to do. Tennessee has hired these choir boys to run the football program and you see what it has become in the last 10 years or so. Fulmer needs to do his JOB and hire a big time coach.First off, Baylor did not pay his buyout. He was fired for cause, but they reached a settlement with him (below his actual buyout) that came with an NDA.
Second, Briles is radioactive and will never be the head coach at another major program.
Jones, who was named the head coach at UC on Dec. 16, 2009, holds a 50-27 career mark, a 32-12 record in conference play, has five bowl appearances and four league championships to his credit in six seasons as a collegiate head coach. He was 23-14 at UC, guiding the Bearcats to back-to-back Big East Conference Championships in 2011 and 2012 and was named Big East Coach of the Year in 2011. In 2011, UC was the only program nationally to win both its conference championship as well as the league’s team academic award. Are we calling Butch's tenure at Cincy "successful"?
So were the girls raped under himThe man has built winners, is a genius on offense, would crawl here on broken glass for the job, and we could get him for a good price. Baylor had to admit that Briles did not violate their policies and they paid him his buyout. His name is tied to a bad situation but nobody has proved he violated any rules or laws. Finally someone with integrity about Schiano.Speak for yourself. I didn’t want Schiano because I thought he would fail here. Briles is hirable. If I was in charge and couldn’t get the boosters to give me the cash for Freeze, I’d fire Pruitt and offer Briles just enough so it’s not a humiliating amount. Probably a million a year plus incentives would do it and I guarandamtee you we would be giving Pruitt a raise for at least that much if he’d happened to stumble into 8 or 9 wins this year.
