Article: Tennessee’s Pearl not coming to Heights

I've most certainly stated Pearl did a much better job of adapting to his personnel than I thought he was capable of doing.

This is what I was originally pointing to. You gave Pearl credit where credit was due, which SaintBruce contended that you never did.

I'll concede that I was wrong with that statement.

That being said, I still don't understand how turning down a job that is a step down from the one that he currently is at defines his loyalty. Just saying.

I kind of have to agree with this. The majority of people (coaches of teams especially) are typically only as loyal as their options. As much as I like Bruce, if a better job came open, I think he would take it.

Additionally, all the talk about "Tennessee game me a chance" is probably just that, talk. He is playing off the emotions we feel after getting farther than any other Vols B-Ball team. It a smart move on his part saying all this because it makes more people trust and like him.

Ok so when he is offered a job, and he takes it he's fine? It's just asking for an interview that makes him fake? Let me guess, you have an insider in LA that told you Lane Kiffin never inquired about the USC job before it was offered to him?
If you are going to run around kissing up to the orange overall wearing mouthbreathers by talking about how loyal you are, it most certainly makes you a phony when you spend your offseason trying to get the Hell out of town. If your head weren't so deeply planted in Pearl's rectal cavity, that wouldn't be a difficult concept to grasp. Also, Kiffin didn't contact USC. They called him after Del Rio took a pass.

If Pearl had wanted to go to Memphis, why would they have settled on Josh Pastner when they could've had him?

While they may not have technically "offered" it to him, it was because he said no when contacted. He could've had it had he wanted it.

And you are the only person I have ever seen say that he was after the Arizona job. Wouldn't that have been a bigger deal if that were the case?

See, somebody actually gets it. SaintBruce, you should take notes. That's what a sane, rational post looks like.

Actually, it's a fact.

You misunderstand, I know it's true. They did give him the chance. Im saying, even though they gave him a chance, I think that that really has no bearing on what he does or whether or not he takes another job. Saying that is just talk to get people to like him. Which, again, is smart on his part.

I agree with that. I love Bruce Pearl and I think he's done great things at Tennessee. But If let's say he ever gets offered the Indiana job, he'd be a fool not to take it.

That's strange. I thought this is what a sane, rational post looked like

I'm going to love pulling up this thread in a couple of years when KO has SC in the 'AAs and people here have finally clued in to what an utter sham and a snake Tanning Bed Bruce is. Of course, the tears of the Star of David Bodypaint Brigade will have caused the Tennessee River to rise to flood stage and Pratt Pavilion will collapse due to shifting soil, but that's just too bad

He was never contacted by anyone at Memphis. Why would Arizona saying thanks but no thanks be a story? The Pumps called multiple times and got the same response. Where's the story there and who has any incentive to run it?

Very entertaining discussion. Didn't realize that Coach Pearl was such a polarizing figure. Disingenious snake? Pretty strong language, but to each his own.

As for him leaving, I've learned never to say never, especially when it comes to coaching changes.

I'm going to enjoy this uptick in Tennessee basketball for as long as it lasts.

That's your opinion. I think he's genuine. Not everyone is like CLK.

I'm not trying to make you believe it. Personally, I have a hard time trusting people and I look for an ulterior motive or underlying meaning when someone says something so my natural response when I hear this is to think Bruce may not be completely genuine and would leave us for a better job even though Tennessee did give him a shot. But again, this is just me and my opinion.

Which means BC can hire a coach from the Horizon League or equivalent. It doesn't mean they are going to be able to hire someone from a major conference.

I'm perfectly fine with that. Give me an up-and-comer at a mid-major school over the likes of John Calipari any day.

As usual you completely miss the point. You can't possibly be this dim.

Sheep do tend to trust their hearder.

So, the thousands of fans who attended the basketball games this season and post season have been brainwashed. And all the players on the team have been brainwashed. Even Pat Summitt has been brainwashed.

God I hope Dooley is successful at UT.

I think we could finally run hatvol out of town.

A man can dream.
