According to this 120,000 with around 2,000 attacking the Capitol building
Exclusive: Classified documents reveal the number of January 6 protestors
Don't know about Trump or even the vast majority of his minions. About 750 people actually went into the Capitol. Most did nothing at all. That's out of a protest numbering around 1 million. We are told that the 2020 George Floyd riots were "OK" because only about 10% of protesters were violent. On January 6, .075% of the protesters actually went into the Capitol building. Some small fraction of those actually engaged in conflict with officers... and yet the left wants to call this an "insurrection" and a threat to democracy and a coups attempt... worse than 9/11 and World War II.
I'm not saying that it wasn't a bad act or that those involved shouldn't be punished under the law. But the narrative the Dems are pushing is nothing less than Goebbels style propaganda.
So about the same numbers as the Ole Miss debacle (I'd estimate 2000 threw something on the field) at Neyland this year..... we had golf balls and mustard bottles, DC had podiums pilfered.....According to this 120,000 with around 2,000 attacking the Capitol building

About 750 have been charged. I think the vast majority are just simple trespassing. None have been charged with terrorism, insurrection, sedition, or anything of the kind. As far as I'm aware, no weapons were used or weapons charges filed.According to this 120,000 with around 2,000 attacking the Capitol building

The last number I saw was 750 charged. Most were just trespassing. A very small minority of that 750 were involved in a conflict. There's no f***ing way 2,000 people "attacked" the capitol. Perhaps 2,000 people were on the grounds after the police moved the barricades and waved the protesters to "come on in". But there were not 2,000 people storming the doors with the buffalo head guy.
Well, my guess is that most didn't actually read the link but rather just accepted the claim. From the article:A more accurate number of 120k was posted earlier
Six times as many protestors—as many as 120,000—would show up on the Mall on January 6, according to classified numbers still not released by the Secret Service and the FBI but seen by Newsweek. But there is still not an official estimate, nor have any of the Congressional committees or task forces offered a number. Nor is there a clear number of how many people actually entered the Capitol, or tried to get in.
Thanks for asking. In trying to confirm the 750 number, I found this which details every person charged and the charges against them. You can see that the vast majority were charged with trespassing. Was this the same source telling you there were a million people there? Just curious
I remember the days when somebody would make a nazi comparison and everyone on the board would shout "godwin's law."Don't know about Trump or even the vast majority of his minions. Yeah. There's also a lot of charges for assaulting officers in that list. Mace, bear spray, batons, flag poles, etc. used as weapons against Capitol and DC cops. But yeah this was just some yahoos taking beer from a fridge. Thanks for asking. In trying to confirm the 750 number, I found this which details every person charged and the charges against them. I read some of the "charges". One's like Michael Dickinson are interesting. He threw a cup at guards... they shot him in the face with rubber bullets.
LOL... Mahailya Pryer committed the outrageous crime of stealing Nancy's beer.
You can always tell the posters who have never worked or trained for riot controlI have a theory on that. I doubt anyone will admit it though. I think they didn't expect them to actually try to get in, were completely overwhelmed when they did. Either start shooting at civilians, try to keep them out (remember the cop who was almost crushed in the door), or stand down and hope they don't do too much damage. I suspect they went with option three.
This leads me to another thought, this could have been stopped if they had a heavier security presence. They did this and brought in NG in the aftermath and for the inauguration. People heavily criticized them for militarizing the Capitol and running a police state because they took the actions that would prevent another Babbit situation.
I believe just like there was a mix of harmless protestors outside and actual felons and violent idiots who deserved to be arrested, there were also good capitol police trying to deescalate their sections. Some using force to repel violence and some who were ill prepared and simply shut down or didn’t know what to do due to terrible training and leadershipI think if the Capitol police had not stood down when they did, we'd be looking at what happened on Jan 6 as a best case scenario.
