I too have heard this saying, only slightly tweaked by the esteemed gentleman making the declaration. He replaced "women" with a colloquial term for female genitalia. As far as the existence of middle ground: no, there is not. The statement is infallible, especially when replaced with the aforementioned colloquial term.
