Oh I dunno....You take a 1 dimensional athlete who basically knows streetball and tell him what to do in the huddle every play and he could be of some value...sheesh look what they did with Lofton  :gone:

Considering we're prone to losing close games, I'd take him just to block kicks. If he couldn't do anything else, stopping a PAT or FG works for me. And if the offense stays on its current pace, we might be relying on the D to win games or at least not lose them for us.

Just remember - you can coach route running, but you can't coach vertical leap.

Theres a lot of room for improvement at WR. I think it will be difficult though for him to catch a football at this level in only one year, unless like everyone is hinting at here, he is a gifted, natural athlete.

Kind of like Kelly Washington a few years ago who transitioned from baseball to football easiy.

Worst case, he could be blocking FG's on defense.

Wouldn't that be great!....a Kelly Washington without the attitude. That would be nice, but wasn't the football layoff alot shorter for Washington?

Well, if he's got it, he's got it. He caught the longest pass of 50 yards in the last practice, from Cooter of all people. We hear of Ainge, we've even got the longest pass of the spring form cooter to Asumnu, but where's crompton?

True. I find it odd that cutt is putting so much into Ainge if it is that effortless for Crompton. Guess they want to give him a fair shake with a coach that coaches, and then if he doesn't come around, he's #2 or transfers. I just think it has taken too much coaching to get him to where he is now and he's not near where he needs to be right now. He wasn't a beginner by any means.

Unless crompton shows that he is MUCH better than Ainge before the season starts Ainge is the man. What happens if they start another freshman and he ends up playing like a freshman?.....Fulmer and co. will avoid another rotating QB situation at all costs.

I hear he is doing pretty good.

My cousin was at the coaches clinic this past week and he said Ainge looked awesome. He said his foot work was incredible. They watched the qb's go through all of there drills and he said far and away Ainge looked better than any of them.

Ainge didn't play that well in the scrimmage saturday or at least the numbers he put up don't reflect it.

I think Ainge's problem is accuracy, not velocity. He looks good throwing the ball, until you expect him to throw it to a receiver on the run at chest level then it becomes a problem. When your cousin saw him at the clinic how well was he hitting receivers?

All the videos that I have seen this Spring, he is right on target and his timing is good. You can tell that Cut has been working with him.
