Asumnu going out for fooball

I agree OWB - the only thing that I notice - and this is from all the QB's -is that there are a lot of balls being thrown with a downward trijectory (sp?)

Ainge didn't play that well in the scrimmage saturday or at least the numbers he put up don't reflect it.

I think Ainge's problem is accuracy, not velocity. He looks good throwing the ball, until you expect him to throw it to a receiver on the run at chest level then it becomes a problem. When your cousin saw him at the clinic how well was he hitting receivers?

He told me that every pass was on target with alot of zip and that they had him running drills to where they were throwing bags at his feet to make him uncomfortable and drills to where he had to sprint out to one side or the other and throw the ball like a boot leg. According to him Ainge was on target. If that is the case then I wonder if it is just the pressure of the pass rush or if he just tries to do to much in a game situation. It is alot different when you don't have anyone in your face to when your just running a passing skeleten with coaches throwing dummies at you.

Sometimes, but I'll take that over throwing 5 feet above the receiver.

I agree - it seems to me that they are trying to make him more accurate but also help out the receivers by not making them go up for every ball, especially across the middle.

there are 3 RBs missing and basically 2 WRs missing. Stop jumping to conclusions that Ainge isnt the man for the job.

I personally don't really think that we have anything to worry about as far as the quarterbacks go. You can't really go by what goes on during spring that much, mainly because of all the injuries. The offense hasn't had a running game to speak of all spring so during these scrimmages with the secondary that we have this year they are good enough that they can just sit back and defend the pass and not worry so much about the run. If we don't have a running game this season it will be the same way, but I think we will be just fine there as soon as Arian Foster comes back and some of the o-lineman.

The one part that I usually don't worry about is the o-line. For all his perceived faults, CPF usually takes extra effort to be sure they are playing well. And in the past it has been one of our best parts (excluding years with so many injuries). I feel they will be together when the season starts.

It looks like Asumnu may really want to do this. He has to pay his own way to even be on the team. The reports I saw said they sent him in for some fades and even let him take a couple licks on an end around. We all know he's a great athlete with tons of physical ability. I hope that some of what the bball team had this year rubs off on the fball guys.

We just need to do what we used to do, get the ball in the hands of our athletes and let them make the plays we recruited them for. I don't know why we got away from that in past years.

I disagree, I think the o-line hasn't been playing very well. Jimmy Ray Stephens got fired partly because of it. The running game hasn't been up to the level it needs to make the kind of offense fulmer wants to run work. he has to have a good running game because fulmer's offense isn't going to confuse anybody. he has to run at them, and the o-line hasnt been able to do that for several years.

I thought that Foster came in and revived our running game last season. So you can't really say that it wasn't up to par.

However, going back over the past few years, our running game hasn't been what it used to be. I'm hoping Foster, Coker and Hardesty can get it back on track..

The O-line is definitely a concern since they're going to be green this year minus Sears. It's just something that they'll have to work through. But we haven't seen them play this year, so I would hold off on implying that the offensive line is going to suck this year.

Yes, Foster came in and ran the ball well against Memphis, Vandy, and Kentucky. Teams we used to dominate.

Compared to how UT ran the ball against the top teams in the league, Florida, Ga, LSU, Bama. Not that great.

Foster is a good back, dont get me wrong. He ran the ball well. But the competition wasn't that great.

Umm yeah, Riggs got hurt in the Bama game and that's when Foster came in. The second half of the season was all Foster had a shot at.

Foster didn't run much in those games except the second part of the Bama game where he was on pace to get 100 yards against Bama's tough defense.

Last year, all the competition was tough when it came to our offense. With the lack of QB play and all the defenses putting everyone in the box Foster was able to rush

25 times for 150 against SC..

28 times for 138 against ND..

28 times for 135 against Memphis

40 times for 228 against Vandy

26 times for 122 against UK

That's just his rushing, it doesn't count the passes he caught that pushed him over 300 total yards in a however many games.

AND he did it with a bum knee and hurt shoulder...

Pretty good if you ask me.

I said Foster ran the ball well. What do you want me to say he should win the heisman trophy next year? :biggrin2:

:D Ok Ok, I just think that Foster was breath of fresh air last season and I think he's something that we haven't seen at RB in a while now. I'm just looking forward to seeing him this year and got a little worked up.
