At the end of the day, Alabama has to take a dive

"nobody wants to sign up to play for them anymore" ?

Too early to be smoking that stuff, dude. Studs are still signing up to play for them.
It may take 2-3 years to implement a new system and get the guys to buy in. Don't
overlook this group of 100+ players, most of which are 4 and 5*

I agree.

The Ala**** love fest continues here on VN even after Saban retired.

"They lost to Vanderbilt but that's okay, it happens. They're still Ala**** and 5-1. Theyll be in the playoffs every year"

"We lost to Arkansas. We suck. Lol at making playoffs. Bunch of sunshine pumpers here. Fire somebody".
People keep forgetting about how Alabama boat raced Scar…..

Tennessee has a big opportunity vs. Bama to remain solidly in the playoff hunt. A loss and they will join Ole Miss and Missouri as SEC supposed offensive juggernauts that turned into pipsqueaks. The 12 team playoff has added drama to the weekly conference schedule and stakes of each game. Let’s hope Nico and company regain their early season performance soon.

I think the VOLS hand Bama and DeBore their second loss of the season tomorrow , like us Bama has some tough games left on their schedule. I think Debore is a good coach , but if he takes three loses and misses CFP . The amount of pressure on him from the spoiled entitled Bama fan base, will be bone crushing immense and more than any normal human could withstand.
Go Vols !! Beat Bama!! and set that in motion

I won’t be able to watch it because in Connecticut for the first time for a Cousin’s wedding, and don’t have any reason to think tvs showing college football games will be on.

Can still look at my cellphone for details of it, and I’m hopeful the Volunteers find ways to play slightly better in a conference game that is most likely to be an epic heavyweight clash of the SEC Goliaths.

Titans and Giants are a cliche so I’m using a synonym of those 2 related words.
Just put in your hearing aid and listen on radio.

Nick Saban is gone and it's high time this team took a few Ls. The only way to end their dynasty is to start beating them senseless. It starts with a 2 or 3 loss season and then the slide begins nobody wants to sign up to play for them anymore and they have 15 years of irrelavance. IMO it's the responsibility of Tennessee to ensure this happens. UT needs to pull out all the stops this weekend. We cannot make this a friendly competition we need to view them as schoolyard bullies who need to be put in their place. Reestablish dominance and widen the crack in their facade.

I cannot wait to see this crowd and see UT slug it out with them I think for years now UT has stupidly missed their opportunity to take their place as the premier team of this league and there has literally never been such an obvious opportunity just placed in front of them to take. The time is now and they need to play like there is no tomorrow!
GB🍊!

If Tennessee can get 3 turnovers and put constant pressure on Milroe tomorrow afternoon, we win.

They both make it in with 2 loses.. the first elimination game will be, say we drop this game this weekend, well I think Georgia also losing too so when we play them in Athens and we both 7-2… that’ll be the first playoff game for elimination
Where is our 2nd loss? We're winning tomorrow.

So a 2 loss Bama team with loses to Vandy and Tennessee will get in but since others are implying Tennessee has almost no path in do you believe if Tennessee beats Bama but loses to Arky and Georgia, will they or won’t they get in
Depends on how we look but probably not.
You can already see the media bias working out. Bama loses to Vandy and then looks bad at times but wins against South Carolina and stays ranked the same.
Tennessee loses to Arkansas then looks bad at times but wins against Florida and drops several spots.
And if Bama wins out after losing to us and Gerogia wins out after losing to Texas they will both be on a several game winning streak and the media will talk about how they have "righted the ship".
But our second loss will be late in the season and fresh on the committee's mind.

I could be wrong but with Georgia at 5 and Bama at 7 and us at 11, the perception is already out there. Hard to overcome.

If Tennessee goes 10-2, they are in. Book it.

B1G is looking like it may only have 3 solid contenders: Oregon, Ohio State, and Penn State

Ole Miss and Missouri will likely fall all of the picture and Alabama vs. LSU will likely eliminate one of those 2 teams. SEC will get 4 to 5 teams in. My guess is Alabama or LSU, Tennessee (if we beat Alabama), Texas, Georgia, and maybe Texas A&M

SEC has 5 (let's assume) of the 12

That still leaves room for 3 B1G teams, 2 ACC teams, 1 Big12 team, and Boise State

Issue is BYU and Iowa State, we need those goes to fall off (at least 1 of them). Miami has been playing with fire, they could also drop a couple and put ACC down to 1 team.

The only way that Tennessee (assuming 10-2) gets left out is they put an ACC or Big12 team in front of us that did not win their conference. I think that would be controversial.

Depends on if they win out. If either loses today and wins out, they could still get in depending on a few other dominoes. TAMU being one of them. If we lose tomorrow, I do not see a realistic path to the playoff. Sitting where we are in the polls puts us on thin ice. We would have to win out and destroy everyone to have a shot.

Given what is happening with the other conferences - it may be difficult for a 2-loss team to make it.

Yes I know we all believe those conferences are weak but towards the end of the year those 0 and 1 loss teams among the P4 conferences will rise above the 2 loss teams.

One of the most encouraging things I seen from Bama this year is the "Malachi Moore on field saga". If that event is any indicator of the discipline level under the new regime, then this sets up well for the long term collapse.

That is not how it will work. The top team from each of the four major conferences are in. Then the top ranked non P4 conference is in. The rest (7 non automatic teams) are then from the order as ranked in the CFP rankings. If you look at any year regardless of what a team did and what conference those that do the rankings tend to place the 1 loss teams from the top conferences in front of any 2-loss team.

I don't see the SEC getting 5 unless the teams in the other conferences start to beat each other. There are just 7 non-automatic teams and 4 conferences where the second and third best are vying for the spots. The SEC is not getting 5 of those unless there are 5 SEC teams with 1 loss or less, which there will not be given current records and schedules. There are 7 SEC teams in that category right now, but many have games with each other so that number will dwindle down to 2 or 3 before the season ends. We may see a record number of teams with 2 losses.

Another way to look at it is that the 7 will come from the pool of teams that finished 2 and 3 in the P4 conferences. I expect # 2 from each conference unless they have > 2 losses to be in. That leaves 3. It will be then which are the best #3 teams out of those 4 conferences.

I think SEC gets 3. B1G gets 3 and either the ACC or B12 gets 3 so it is more like 3-3-3-2-1. If one of the other conferences ends up with the 3rd best team having 3 losses and there is a fourth SEC team with only 2 losses, maybe that would be 4.

For 5 SEC teams to get in, the SEC needs for chaos to happen in the other 3 conferences.

2 teams from the SEC will be eliminated from the playoffs this weekend. Georgia and Bama. Both will get a 2nd loss.
I don't understand the concept of 2 loss teams being OUT of the playoffs. Usually only the top 5-7 teams are one loss. They'll be some 2 loss teams get in.
