Atheists "Hijack" Nativity in Santa Monica

There's absolutely nothing wrong with the nativity scene. However, that church did a whole lot of pissing and moaning over such a minor incident. Fact is, they did nothing to prevent vandalism. Because of that, I don't think they're any better than the *******s who did the deed. It's just two sides painting each other as fanatics.

they are both fanatics.

That's too foggy for me. It doesn't address projection.

You're a fanatic.

Nice Bromance dudes....you guys make such a cute couple.

No Christian believes anyway; they just proclaim to have faith. However, if they had even the smallest amount of faith, say the size of a mustard seed, they could command the mountains to move.

And be cast into the sea. Praise the Lord.

The condescending enlightenment is every bit as bad as they all claim the Christians to be in evangelizing.

Not even close when 75% of the country is Christian and less than 5% are atheist, churches on every corner, and organized evangelism.

Add in to that things like organized efforts to get creationism in schools that absolutely does not fit within the mold of science, and the vocal minority voicing "condescending enlightenment" is every bit understandable, and in fact, not loud enough.

Atheists in the OP article are morons for the most part and went about everything the wrong way. But let's be honest, any playing of the oppressed card is mute. Till this day nobody can get elected to any significant public office without some sort of belief in a diety. They are well represented in society.

It is far easier to ignore atheism morons than it is christian morons, if only by sheer numbers.

Gary Johnson was a governor. I'm certain there are more since I know almost nothing about the religious beliefs of politicians.

Also, I wouldn't say an inability to get elected would qualify as oppression.

rjd,

If, as you say, atheists only make up less than 5% of the population, it's not terribly surprising that they aren't well represented in the halls of government.

How come its acceptable to preach god on the street corners or on my front porch ruining a perfectly wonder Saturday afternoon, but someone preaching atheism on the street corner or door-to-door is spreading hate?

Both can be done positively or negatively (with hate). I was a Mormon missionary many lifetimes ago. I didn't knock on a Baptist's door to tell him he was wrong, I knocked on his door to tell him what we had to offer.

If an atheist came to my door saying, "The advantage of our non-belief system is that you can live your life according to the dictates of your own conscience...." I wouldn't consider it spreading hate, and I don't think religious folk would either.

O rly? Is racism against a black man more atrocious than racism against a white man?

I never said anything about oppression. I simply stated that Christians up in arms over a few yahoo "atheists" are being silly being they are the majority, and this business of the "condescending enlightenment" being just as bad as the evangelism is a crock.

Well maybe you didn't mean to infer it, but it came right on the heels of a comment about oppression, so that explains the confusion.

Who said that

Maybe he should not have used the term 'hate'; however, you have made it quite clear that the only reason for atheists proclaiming anything is to be 'jackasses', 'piss people off', and to be 'a pain in the ass'.
