Awesome Fredi quote on the relievers: "That’s just the way it goes. Maybe they are, maybe they’re not. For me, those are excuses. If we hold their appearances back, maybe we’re a .500 club. "

Where's the Chipper gif when you need it?

I love Prado, but he just doesnt produce enough power for a outfield position. I say we trade him, Lowe, Hinske, maybe Gonzo for a power LF. And or maybe another proven veteran pitcher as well

Here's a good video recap from the game last night for those who didn't get to see it:

Accurate and succinct.

Having had a (partial) night to sleep on it, I think I've got some perspective now. And really, it just comes down to this. I've been a Braves fan for thirty years. All the way through the horror of the 80s, through the yearly playoff disappointments of the 90s. I was in the stands with a massive case of the flu for Leyritz's home run. And I still have to say: this month-long, slow-motion, inexorable choke job by everyone in the organization is absolutely the low point. This is the worst. This is the baseball equivalent of losing to Vanderbilt or Wyoming.

Exactly. It would be like watching Vandy take one to the house to win the game and keep us from going to the SEC championship.

And you know what? There's not going to be any serious questioning of Fredi Gonzalez. There's not going to be one column wondering whether the Braves wouldn't be better served to just try somebody else. The media in this town is a joke, because the fans are a joke. Half this city are northerners who are Phillies or Yankees fans, and the other half doesn't give a shat about anything but college football. It's pathetic.

I too was in the stadium for the Leyeritz HR. You're right. This is epically worse. Even after the blown save I figured they'd eventually scratch out a run and at least be playing tonight. My 9 year old flat out didn't believe me this morning when I told him it was over.

The only time I've had a more empty feeling after a screwy ending is the 1990 alabama game.

He has no idea how to run a baseball team.

I have not seen the Chipper gif. Funny?
