He sat at the desk in front of mine, which meant that every day I spent eight hours face-to-face with whatever slogan was on the No Fear T-shirt he chose to wear that day. The inspirational messages printed on the backs of No Fear T-shirts all sounded like they'd been written by the president of a fraternity moments after he pounded his sixth beer.

This makes perfect sense to me and is an accurate portrayal of my elementary school days

"Well, contrary to popular ****ing belief, I enjoy a little time to myself, so I wake up early so I can have it. Clearly I'm going to have to start waking up earlier."

Awesome.

I was going to protest, but I have to admit that this sounds exactly me talking to my own kid.

Is this about that Arachnophobia movie, again? I told you, a spider that large couldn't sustain itself in an urban environment. The ecosystem is too delicate.

I'm not much one for, "Don't worry, I locked all the doors and so the bad men can't get in." I'm more along the lines of, "Have you seen how many houses are out there in our neighborhood? There's almost no chance they'll pick ours. And if they do, we'll hear them breaking down the door when they try to get in. Probably." This guy's dad and I are equally comforting.

Fredi's media conference:

Me like that inning that Minor pitched good. Big inning happened and that was bad. Stuff happens in a game in which your stuff is just average stuff, (non coherent gurgle) (Fredi turns into a zombie and eats everyones flesh.)

Well, this is ostensibly why Wren hung on to all the young arms instead of picking up someone who sucks less than Juan Francisco and the Zombie Of Matt Diaz. Time to send his ass down and give Teheran a shot.

Maybe we can still trade him for Carlos Beltran..

How did Heyward look in CF?

I'm thinking the Braves draft Roache for RF and put Heyward in CF if he can play there.

I didn't see the whole game, but from what I saw he handled it okay. There was one play where (at least looking at my TV through a window from my deck) he stumbled and looked flustered, but still made the play. I think. He didn't look totally lost.

I'm opposed to him basically learning CF on the fly next year, but I wouldn't be at all surprised if that's where they move him. It's a hell of a lot easier to find a body to plug in RF than it is to find a centerfielder.

How tough/formidable is the NL East top to bottom? Within the NL Central there is one team with 20+ wins. Within the NL West there is one team with 20+ wins.

If Philly had one more win, they are 19-19, every team in the NL East would have 20+ wins.

Every team within the NL East are playing .500 ball or better.

Every team in the NL East have a .500 or greater record at home and on the road.

The Mets are the only NL East team to not have a positive RS versus RA differential.

Philly is in last.

How anomalous/unexpected has the Braves offensive production been to date? They are nearly 50 runs ahead of every team in the NL East.

Ironically enough, the AL is nearly identical in that the AL East has every team with 20+ wins except for Boston with only one 20+ winner in each of the AL Central and AL West.
