I might well die. I'm 15 years too old for a bachelor party. I've totally outsourced the "stop drinking and go home and pass out like a gentleman, you idiot" part of my brain to my wife, and she's going to be 700 miles away. I really shouldn't be out by myself anymore.

Which step are you on again? I kid... lol

Curious though, and honestly not trying to stir it, but how many shots does Crosby, or Ovechkin, etc... block?

Ovechkin blocked a ton of shots these playoffs because his team was playing a doggedly defensive style. Real hockey players drop down and block shots because that's what a man does.

Crosby doesn't block any because he's a nancyboy who plays on a team full of nancyboys. The Penguins block shots by squealing and tossing their purses in front of the puck.

Was just curious if it was just one of those deals where it was just guys that get paid minimum and are cut if they don't cripple themselves.

They still have the Mind Bender there? Only redeemable roller coaster I remember from that park.

I rode that coaster once. My prevailing memory was standing in line behind a guy who wore a tye-dye shirt and cutoff jeans shorts with his butt hanging out. - Traumatic for a young teenager.

On a man's team, everybody blocks shots, especially in the playoffs. Stars, scrubs, everybody. And they don't have much padding down there on the legs. Basically most hockey players have the giant clanging balls of Javy Guerra.

Obviously I have no idea how much Chipper's leg really hurts. Maybe taking a baseball off the leg from 100 feet away might hurt worse than taking a slapshot off the leg from 12 feet away. For Chipper it probably does.

So, it's kinda of the same type deal where there are certain players that are expected to go out there and protect the money players, ala enforcers, etc...? Correct?

Mac is no longer the best cather in baseball. Posey and Wieters have easily supplanted him.

I agree we pick up the option for next season, but after that I think (hope) he walks

They've had two good months. Slow down.

The days of guys like Marty McSorley making a career out of protecting little but skilled players like Gretzky are mostly over. It's like footall -- the players are all so huge and powerful now that even the stars have to be big to absorb the routine punishment the game dishes out. NHL hockey hurts bad bad bad, even for the stars. One of the Caps' better forwards broke his foot blocking a slapshot in a playoff game last week. He finished his shift, of course. He finished the game. Skating. On a broken foot.

It's not just Chipper, of course. All baseball players are basically complete pusses, as far as the injuries they'll play through. I just haven't been able to get over Chipper publicly calling out Heyward last year for not playing through an injury. It's the most breathtakingly hypocritical thing I've ever heard a professional athlete say.

BTW, the game is being replayed on FSS presently. It's in the bottom of the 8th in the replay when Venters almost lost it for the Braves.

Just out of curiosity, did you see the ball that hit Chipper? I've never been one to champion his durability or overall desire to be on the field, but I'm fairly convinced that rocket would have killed a lesser man.

I have. It blasted him. Can't believe he stayed in the game.

hahaha..

Posey's whole career has been good. Check Wieter's second half stats last year and get back to me on the two months. Speaking of months, when's the last time Mac had a good one? And don't get me started on the laps they run around McCann defensively. On a good day, he's the third best defensive catcher in our system. To say McCann is currently the best catcher in baseball is so homerific that it's tragic.

Edit: Not to mention two of these career arcs are headed up and one is headed down. I'll let you decide who to place where.

I dont get how you guys are saying Posey is better then McCann. Posey hasnt been healthy plus he cant even block the plate now. Least McCann has been healthy and consistent for most of his career

Posey's a better hitter than McCann now and he's younger. It's an easy call.
