In fairness, outside of the home runs, its not a great hitters park. I get what you are saying, though

It obviously isn't nearly as much of an outlier as Coors, but of course there's really no way to build a park in Colorado and play normal baseball. The Reds seem to have built a stadium on purpose that plays a little like Wrigley when the wind is blowing out: i.e., a guy hits a routine lazy fly to right and suddenly it's in the basket. It's supposed to be a beautiful stadium but man, I just do not like the kind of baseball that the cheapie-homer stadiums create.

Our lineup isn't very good with Chipper, McCann and Heyward (tonight) out. No blame to Walker at this point. We are top few in NL still

I'm certainly not blaming Walker; just kidding the guys who were talking two weeks ago about how awesome the offense is and what a great job Greg Walker was doing. Now suddenly the offense has sucked for two weeks and they can't score. Sample size is everything.

Sample size goes both ways.

Of course it does. The Braves started out the year not able to score at all, then they were pretty good, then they were unbelievable, now they're back to not scoring again. It's going to take awhile to shake out until we know how good they are. That didn't keep the local media from wanting to carry Greg Walker around in a chair while throwing confetti a few weeks ago.

very true. I'm just hoping is the positive trend and not the negative that wins out. I am all about suspending judgement, I just like doing so with optimism lol.

@Jim_Powell: Huge night from A.Simmons Wed: 4-4, 2 2Bs, HR. Now at 304/371/405 with 9SB, 2CS, 15BB, 15K. Only 2 E's and a range factor superior to AGonz.

So we trade Drew Sutton to the Pirates for some cheese (a small portion at that) who then flip him over to the Rays who call him up and in 8 at bats he has 4 hits, 2 of them doubles, 3 ribs and a walk. Not sure why we didn't keep him for depth in the minors and call him up when rosters expand or in the event of an injury. Not smart IMO.

FL00K

I guess they just decided there wasn't anywhere he'd be useful. If Uggla goes down, Prado moves to 2B and somebody else plays LF. If Chipper goes down (permanently), Francisco plays. He was never more than a body anyway. I don't have a problem with moving him along.

That really makes me happy. He's not been a big OBP guy, but it looks like he is improving.

He did hit .315 in 31 games for the Red Sox last season while being able to play multiple positions. That is value and a luxury to have in your farm system. Why give it up for pennies on the dollar? I never said or thought he would be a everyday guy... but he is one of those guys who you like to keep around.

Obviously a salary dump..

But really, what'd we get back for him?

Basically nothing in return. Undisclosed amount of cash.. Which equate to a drop in the bucket for a minor league player, maybe enough to cancel out his salary. (with a few bones to spare)

Hats off to the Rays front office, those guys are upper echelon. They find and value, well value. Little things like that win you a ball game or two a year and keep in you in constant contention. Such as the Rays always are with such limited resources.

Agreed, I just wish they would change their name. Every time I hear "Rays" on the TV or ESPN for example I think they are saying Braves and vice versa.

The Rays absolutely have great management but not because they make wonderful trades for guys like Drew Sutton. Easy there Chauncey...

No sh** Sherlock. That was a smart move and it has already won them at least one game. And one game can be the difference between a pennant and missing the playoffs. They make lots of smart decisions which collectively = smart top shelf management

We are basically running out the second best lineup possible (no Hanigan), I think Dusty wants a sweep, because the last game of a four gamer usually gets the AAAA treatment

I am surprised this team did not start to scuffle a little earlier considering they have been on the road the entire season including a couple west coast trips.

They have played 17 home games versus 28 road games to date.

Going for the juggular... meanwhile his counterpart Frediot is nursing our boopers and sending in the buffoons. Could get ugly.
