We're going to be in the same boat as we were at the end of the Dooley era, too. We're going to go 6-6 or some shlt this season, Jones will be canned, and we'll have two subpar recruiting classes to lure our next coach with.
Same. Freaking. Boat.
Disagree. We're in a ridiculously better spot than the doolander. How easy people forget
also of note... he is obviously trolling now. Butch Jones gotta push the envelope further than it's even been pushed
Ridiculously? He's 2-2 against Vandy. He had the East gift wrapped to him last year, and he failed. He looks like a buffoon every time he opens his mouth. He's loading the roster with 3 stars. He's got a lot of the fan base accepting 8 wins as a good year.
He's better than Dooley, but who isn't? Butch is average
Where am I wrong ?
Where am I wrong ?
You're not. He'll never have a roster more talented in a division so bad, and he still couldn't get us to Atlanta. I'm to the point where I think I actually dislike him more than Dooley. At least Dooley sucked enough to get fired and give someone else a shot. I'm afraid Butch is just mediocre enough to keep us wallowing in this **** for years to come.
You started off by arguing a point I wasn't even attempting to make but comparing anyone to dooley is hilarious to begin with. The insinuation is that when Butch is fired we are in a SIGNIFICANTLY better situation now than post dooley.
8 wins is a good* season. We aren't elite. End of the story. We are going to lose to Alabama. We are going to lose at least one of GA FL and we will likely drop another somewhere along the way. That's 8-9 wins every year. That's where we are. Sorry people can't accept facts. Vandy loses are ridiculous and embarrassing but bringing in yet another coach to F things up isn't a great solution either. Survey the landscape. Let me know who's taking this job that is an upgrade over Butch coming off us firing Butch with increasing win totals that we will actually pay for. I'll wait.
*good in that it isn't bad
Change for the sake of change is very rarely the answer. Step back and try to find a suitable alternative solution. Butch gonna look better than you think.
IMO, UT should strive to compete for the SEC title on an almost yearly basis, and at least occasionally win it. So, honest question for Brown, or Ben, since you said you agree with him... Do you guys honestly think that Butch Jones has the ability to EVER win the conference? If not, how does keeping him around get UT closer to achieving that goal? Sure switching coaches might leave us worse off, but at least then we'd be taking a swing, as opposed to settling for endless mediocrity.
