He's becoming a bigger joke than Dooley in some ways

We're going to be in the same boat as we were at the end of the Dooley era, too. We're going to go 6-6 or some shlt this season, Jones will be canned, and we'll have two subpar recruiting classes to lure our next coach with.

Same. Freaking. Boat.

Disagree. We're in a ridiculously better spot than the doolander. How easy people forget

also of note... he is obviously trolling now. Butch Jones gotta push the envelope further than it's even been pushed

Our biggest rival Alabama is out here f'ing gray shirting top 100 players and Mr. Cliche is out beating the bushes flushing out recruits with 5 star "hearts". JESUS TAKE THE WHEEL.

Ridiculously? He's 2-2 against Vandy. He had the East gift wrapped to him last year, and he failed. He looks like a buffoon every time he opens his mouth. He's loading the roster with 3 stars. He's got a lot of the fan base accepting 8 wins as a good year.

He's better than Dooley, but who isn't? Butch is average

I don't think he is man. I genuinely think he is so full of
s hit that it has consumed him to the point where he actually believes what he says. That and I don't think he understands the history of winning that comes with being the head coach at the University of Tennessee. Also, he thinks the majority of the fan base borders the delicate line of mental retardation. Which again, he isn't all wrong there but it alienates and insults the man of common intellect.

...... I don't even know where to start.

Where am I wrong ?

You started off by arguing a point I wasn't even attempting to make but comparing anyone to dooley is hilarious to begin with. The insinuation is that when Butch is fired we are in a SIGNIFICANTLY better situation now than post dooley.

8 wins is a good* season. We aren't elite. End of the story. We are going to lose to Alabama. We are going to lose at least one of GA FL and we will likely drop another somewhere along the way. That's 8-9 wins every year. That's where we are. Sorry people can't accept facts. Vandy loses are ridiculous and embarrassing but bringing in yet another coach to F things up isn't a great solution either. Survey the landscape. Let me know who's taking this job that is an upgrade over Butch coming off us firing Butch with increasing win totals that we will actually pay for. I'll wait.

*good in that it isn't bad

You're not. He'll never have a roster more talented in a division so bad, and he still couldn't get us to Atlanta. I'm to the point where I think I actually dislike him more than Dooley. At least Dooley sucked enough to get fired and give someone else a shot. I'm afraid Butch is just mediocre enough to keep us wallowing in this **** for years to come.

If you looked at the scorched earth program Butch inherited from doolander with the stool, the pants, the orange dog, Rommel, bamboo, shower etiquette, ZERO offensive linemen, justin Worley at QB, etc etc etc and think that program would be a preseason top 10 team in four years ... people would say no way.

No add on top of that-the guys fan base would want (very passionately) to can him? Movie script.

The ****ing point is who stocked that roster with talent? They don't grow on trees and show up and UT.

Wallowing in this **** for years to come? Oh how miserable. So much worse than wallowing in the dooley years. These dominating wins in respectable bowls are sooooooo terrible. Someone save us.

My fear is where we'll be 2-3 years down the road. Right now there is at least some decent talent on the roster to attract a new coach. If Butch hangs around, and recruiting at the level of the past couple years, that won't be the case. The roster will effectively be the same as when he took over, save for Dooley's absurd decision not to sign any O-linemen that one year.

Our talent will attract a coach. Our administration and lack of willingness to spend will prevent that coach from stepping front on campus in an official capacity.

Change for the sake of change is very rarely the answer. Step back and try to find a suitable alternative solution. Butch gonna look better than you think.

And continuing along with a guy who has basically proven 8-4 to be his ceiling IS the answer? I know he wasn't ever getting fired this year because of the president/AD situation, but I don't think that really had any bearing. He wouldn't have been fired even if those people had been in place. The people who hold all the cards have apparently decided that that's good enough, and it probably will be until people start staying home in droves ala the end of the Fulmer era.

If we are going to fire coaches for not winning 10 games every season then we are never going to have a coach.

IMO, UT should strive to compete for the SEC title on an almost yearly basis, and at least occasionally win it. So, honest question for Brown, or Ben, since you said you agree with him... Do you guys honestly think that Butch Jones has the ability to EVER win the conference? If not, how does keeping him around get UT closer to achieving that goal? Sure switching coaches might leave us worse off, but at least then we'd be taking a swing, as opposed to settling for endless mediocrity.

The problem is Butch blew his wad and now can't catch lightning in a bottle. We aren't on an upward trajectory. The butt muncher can't deliver. All hat, no cattle. 8-9 wins is an improvement but don't piss on my back and tell me it's raining. Don't sell me 8 wins as if it's something I should be proud of, history doesn't lie. We are a top 10 program.

Butch is doing this to himself. If he could somehow, some f'ing way muster enough decency to somehow relate to the average Tennessee fan he wouldn't be balls to the fire at all times. Dont f'ing tell me winning the East wasn't a goal, don't f'ing tell me we have life champions, and are re-stocking with 5 star hearts. Tell me you weren't good enough and fell short but will work like hell to get s hit done. Tell me you missed on some targets but like what you have coming in. No excuses.

We will never be favored or expected to win the conference as long as the Alabama machine is rolling. If you want to beat your chest about winning a division, by all means, go for it. Do I think Butch is capable of winning the East? Absolutely.
