Dale Murphy was not actually a Met but he played for what's now the Kingsport Mets(A Mets) in the farm system for a year here locally in my area back in the 1974. They were still called the Kingsport Braves back then though.

A buddy of mine brought up Murhpy the other day. It's hard for me to believe he's 60 years old.

His last MLB game was in 1993. For comparison, that was Todd Helton's freshman year at Alabama.

He had a .850 OPS as a 20 year old rookie and changed his approach/swing because they wanted more RIBBIES. He's never been the same

I don't remember the details but it was one of these deals where Bobby got liquored up and started smacking his wife around and she called the cops, but by the time they showed up she clammed up and wouldn't say anything. This was far enough back in the day when it was barely even a scandal. "It's a private family matter," etc.
