I'm not advocating gun control. I'm advocating the total absence of guns. I realize that is not possible.
I do have a significant issue with the ease of getting a gun and using it to kill a mass amount of people. Someone else choosing when your life ends is not a liberty under the constitution IIRC.
So sure, I'm advocating less freakin assault rifles because why the hell does anyone need an assault rifle?
If you have a problem ranging anywhere from mental illness to your coworker spilling water on your shoe, I'm not getting caught in the crosshair of a fist fight or a stabbing or smashing someone's skull with a rock. Whatever method you want to kill someone with, be my guest. The only way to achieve mass murder is guns and bombs. Otherwise people can intervene and put an end or victims can defend themselves.
I think my stance is pretty straight forward.

Its not an unreasonable stance to take at all. At the core, mine and certainly GWN's personal experience in LE breeds a certain mindset about the necessity of always carrying a firearm. I tend to agree with you about the ease in which people can get their hands on these weapons. What I am trying to say (perhaps not well) is that I think people shouldn't let their feelings about guns blind them to other issues because right now whether we like it or not, guns are part of the culture for the foreseeable future. If that makes sense.
It's easy to just say "I don't want to talk about this anymore" and let it go, but I enjoy the discourse without feeling like I have to try to talk anyone into anything. We already know that we're probably not going to change our minds on the issue, but I really do try to keep my mind as open as possible to alternative perspectives.
The best part about this thread is the fact that, for the most part, were able to take completely opposite sides of a very polarizing issue and then, in the next breath, hold Z entirely accountable for the demise of the Braves and the Vols.
Because America.
