I think last time this came up I might actually have predicted 10 years, $500 million. A hundred million here, a hundred million there...
You know Boras is going to milk it for every penny.
No way Harper get $50 million per year on any contract with any team. He's good but I don't think any player will ever receive that amount of money period in MLB.
Somewhere around $25-$30 million per year isn't out of the question though for sure. Definitely nothing above $35 million per year but I think the deal would be more around $30 million per year instead.
Something like a 6 year $180 million contract with player options involved with whatever team he signs with but I would find it hard to believe that the Nationals would allow him to ever go anywhere else to play. He's just too good.
If I knew you in real life I'd be trying to get you to wager a lot of money on this.
The Nats just gave a pitcher with a history of injuries $25 million a year, and pitchers are WAY more readily available then players like Bryce Harper are. Harper's going to get way north of $30 million. Maybe 50 is too high, but it's going to be closer to that than 30. The TV money-fueled salary inflation is nowhere near done yet.
I have to disagree with you on Harper's amount. I don't ever see any MLB player sign a contract worth $50 million per year. Players like Harper usually get somewhere between $25-$30 million per contract. Trout for instance got what $25 million per in his last deal that signed him thru 2020?

Based on this comparison there's no way Harper can get more than $30 million per if you ask me. If he gets more than $30 million per then I'm going to faint & many other MLB players will do the same.![]()
