I get that, but also feel like if his teams weren't constantly underachieving, a good portion of the Pearl talk would have died down. Certainly not all of it, but a lot. Winning would have been the easiest way to make people forget about Bruce, and Cuonzo just hasn't done a lot of that in his three years.

He's had one team underachieve.

He's averaged 20 wins a year.

Do I think he's the guy long term? No I don't. But this whole idea that he's burning the program down is just ridiculous noise.

Which team are you counting as his underachiever, this year or last? I definitely don't think he's burning the program to the ground, but with our roster this year and playing in a two bid conference (with our potential to be a third) it's ridiculous that they didn't make the tournament with plenty of room to spare. Things were in pretty bad shape when he arrived, and three years later they aren't appreciably better.

This year. Last year in November 2012, if you told me Tennessee would have 20 wins with no games played by Maymon and a limited Trae Golden with a bum shoulder, I would have taken it. I will stand by my conviction we should have gotten in last year. He definitely underachieved this year.

And I completely disagree that the program isn't in better shape than when he found it. He's stabilized the program, still has the Georgia pipeline, is about to put possibly two players in the NBA, and has had two top 40 classes back to back. It's not in amazing shape but it is definitely better than what Bruce left.

You know what I think about Martin, but again, put yourself in his shoes. He took over a dumpster fire of a program and he's won 60 percent of his games. He's won 20 games twice. He could very easily have gone to the tournament all three years. He probably doesn't think he's underachieving that much. And yet all he hears is Bruce Bruce Bruce.

Again, get to the tournament for once and it'll probably calm a lot of folks down. He's got the best chance of his tenure tomorrow night to shut up some of his detractors.

Also, the guys who were wondering how long until he leaves of his own accord, are there really a lot of schools out there looking to pay a guy with 6 years as a HC and zero NCAA appearances the same money that UT is paying him?

Depends on how far this team goes imo.

He's in the tournament. Yeah, it's not what we needed, but he's still in the tournament.

He's improved at Tennessee (though faintly) every year.

By the way, going into this year, Cuonzo was 11th in SEC coaching per year salary at $1.3M. He's finished 2nd, 5th, and 4th his three years in the SEC. You could even say he's outperformed his salary. How would that make you feel when Tony Barbee and Anthony Grant made more than you this season?

We'll have to agree to disagree on the first point but the rest is reasonable. Although it should be mentioned that both Grant and Barbee had track records of getting teams to the tournament prior to getting their SEC jobs, a thing that Martin didn't have.

Anybody seen or tried these? I also saw a carrot cake variety which sounds awful, but birthday cake might be decent.

Nope but when i see them i will try them. Not the carrot cake ones though.

I won't be trying the carrot cake either. I saw the birthday cake ones at a gas station today, but I had already paid and didn't want to go back just to buy a bag of M&M's. I'll stop back by there later this week when I'm in the area again.

If any of you guys are following the missing jet story, this guy right here has probably figured it out. Electrical fire knocked out the communications equipment; captain turns directly on a course for the closest airport big enough to land a 777; crew is overcome by smoke; jet flies on its way until it runs out of fuel and crashes in the ocean. Now that Malaysia is backtracking off the "pilots radioed back after switching off transponder," something like this seems like the most likely scenario.

Howdy

I was going to tell you to skip it, but gas-pumping Jimmy might be the greatest Jimmy yet. Gotta rock that one for a day or two at least.
