TBrown, I got a baseball question for ya:

Last week we had our pitcher having trouble finding his arm slot all day. His slider/curve were all over the place. I told him next time to use his changeup more if he's having trouble finding his arm slot because I think you can have better control with that pitch. Do you think that's fair advice?

Round 2 for big ERV today

"He's a competitor. He executes his pitches and he's a winner. He's not afraid of anybody at all." - Gattis on Teheran

Also, David hale has quietly had a horrendous spring.

Yeah, he has been really bad. Harang will be around awhile

When I am online, I hardly ever go to espn.com however.

Stickin it to the man!!

That's sound advice. Theoretically, every pitch is supposed to come from the same arm slot. The biggest problem with breaking pitches is that the kid tries to do too much with it. Over grip, over throw, over cut, etc. Tries to make it break himself and ends up choking the life out of it. Loses consistency and break.
Changeup is a feel pitch. Same as fastball, just let the grip take the velocity out. It's not sexy so kids don't like em, but it's still the second most effective pitch.

His fastball was pretty good. I felt like since you are supposed to be throwing a fastball when you throw the change, it would be more effective.

It seems like all high school kids have sliders instead of change ups. I like sliders, but I feel like a change up is easier/more effective. I think part of it is you have s many right handed pitchers that face mostly right handed batters, but in high school mixing up your speeds is your most effective tool.

Only college sport that is better, imo is football.

This. NBA gets the nod over college from me.

March Madness is awesome, but it really only consists of about 10 days. Once you get past the dreadful first round of the NBA playoffs, you've pretty much got top-notch basketball being played every night for a month and a half. Also, for as cool as the on-off upsets are to watch, it's hard to beat watching two evenly matched teams punch and counterpunch with each other for 6 or 7 games.

The only espn I watch is live sporting events

You're smarter than me. I don't watch a lot of SC, but when I turned my TV on this morning I just switched it to ESPN for background noise till I went to find something to watch, and saw the Pacers/Heat segment a few boxes away on the rundown and got sucked in like a moron. Three commercial breaks and 30 minutes of NFL talk later, they finally got around to it.

Playoffs order for me:

1) Stanley Cup Playoffs
2) March Madness
3) MLB Playoffs
4) NFL Playoffs
5) NBA Playoffs

6) Previous College Bowl System

BTW, when the college football playoffs goes to sixteen teams in ten years, that will be the #1 watched sporting event over multiple days. It's gonna be crazy.

And if it gets that big, it'll render the regular season effectively meaningless.

You were right to put the bowl system way down at the bottom of your rankings in terms of excitement, but while it wasn't all that fun or sexy, it was effective at making sure the NC ended up in the hands of the best team almost every season. Aside from possibly the NBA playoffs, no system in American sports did a better job of awarding its title to the team that was the best from the first game of the season to the last.

Chris Johnson over Justin Upton might just be the dumbest **** Fredi has ever done.

Upton career slash: .275/.356/.473 with a 118 OPS+

Johnson career slash: .289/.328/.438 with a 108 OPS+

Seems legit you guys.

I agree.

I don't mind a four team playoff however.

It'll be good for the handful of years they stay at four. I've adamantly objected to a playoff system all along though because I know it's going exactly where you described. They'll see how much money they're printing and not only make sure to water down their playoff, but ruin their regular season while they're at it.

My dad says they should either stay at four or blow it up and go to 32 and all have conference winners be automatic bids like the NCAA Tourney. I would hate the 32 idea. I wish the NCAA Tourney took the 64 best teams.

If they could ever form a separate division for football and get everybody into 4 conferences with the winner of each conference earning a bid to a 4-team playoff you could actually have the best of both worlds. Regular season would still be all-important, but you'd also have a playoff at the end.

Julio wood ERV minor harang isn't terrible.. I guess. I told myself I wasn't gonna get my hopes up on Floyd but I've talked myself into a sub 4 era right out of the gate in early-mid may. B4L

Good news is Floyd is ahead of schedule.

The top four is really solid. It'd be more awesome with Meds, but alas.

I'm really hoping Graham can have a really nice two months in Gwinnett and get called up and do what Alex Wood did last year.

I like Graham a lot.

I'm hoping Cabrera puts it all together this season so we have a Cab/Sims duo coming through the system.
