Attendance

Just back from the game (it was hot), sunburnt but worth it! I will add my 2 cents. The section we sat in (Y8) was completely full. I attended 4 games last year that were of the Troy, Akron variety and I thought the crowd was better today (although it was hot!). I also thought the crowd was different than any of the games I attended last year in the fact that everyone was very vocal, at least in my section. Did I mention it was HOT! Introduced 3 fans to their first Vols game, they'll be back, and hopefully bring more with them!!!

Our seats were in the shade at kickoff last week. I promise you this week was more miserable weatherwise for some of us.

I wasn't able to make this week and I was there last week and know how bad that was. Was there at least a breeze this week?

Y 10 was full but was sitting most the game. Totally different experience than the student section lol. I'm so burnt though.

Meteorologically speaking, this game was nowhere near as hot as Austin Peay.

Peay was at 6pm. This sun wasn't directly on top of you. I was at both and this game was 1000 times more uncomfortable.

It WAS very hot, even in our shaded seats. I can give some older fans a pass for staying home today.
Saw a woman with a 3-4 month old baby out in the direct sun for most of the game. Poor thing was red as a lobster. Unreal.

Not enough of one. It literally felt like you were cooking. At one point I had put my hand on the back of my neck, and noticed three people down in front of me were doing the same thing. :eek:lol: My bad for forgetting the sunscreen. At least I wouldn't have been blistered.

Variety of factors:

1. Fans have a justifiable "show-me" attitude. We've been burnt too many times before. Give fans something tangible on the field to be excited about, it'll start getting packed again.
2. Ticket prices and economy. I can swing it going by myself, but try paying for you, a wife, and two kids. That's a weekend in the mountains kind of money.
3. It's Western Kentucky.
4. It's a pain in the rear to go to a game.

5. Game is on TV

We figured that empty block at the top was probably given to the cheerleaders who were there today. They had some kind of camp or something and they all performed on the field. There were at least several hundred kids out there. And I doubt the girls begged their parents to stay for the game, lol.

This was the view today of the student section:

I don't think the student section goes up that high.

Also, I don't know what time you took that picture, but I was in the lower student section and I would have noticed that. They do sell tix that students don't use.

Tennesse is the 4th most populous state in the SEC behind TX, GA, and FL. And UT also drws from metro Atlanta so lack of people is not the problem. I wanted to go but wasn't willing to pay $45 per seat or $20 to sit in the sun in the visitors section. Would have been there if I could have found $10 seats. Its WKU after all.

I sold 4 together in lower section partial shade for 15 bucks each

This is the game you kick yourself for not going to. All the turnovers, petrino hype, high scoring, momentum shifts.

Those seats were blocked off for somethlng. I agree that they were probably for the junior cheerleader association that was there. I saw all those girls all over the stadium the whole game so I don't think they ever went to their seats.

we are in a state with a little over 4 million people. we are bringing in as many people as highly ranked teams with a much larger population in their state. That is something to be proud of.

I don't agree with you at all.
