Auburn Moving To The East?

Move to 9 game SEC schedule and we could keep the Bama rivalry

As much of a proponent as I am of a 9-game conference schedule, that's not correct here unless everyone was given two permanent cross division rivals.

Otherwise, Alabama would only be assigned one, so either the Third Saturday in October or the Iron Bowl would no longer be an annual game following an Auburn move East.

Go to a 9 conference game season at the same time, and Auburn and UT both retain their Alabama rivalry games.

Not really.

Unless you go to two permanent cross division rivals, one of those games goes from an annual rival to becoming a game that gets played twice every 6 years.

And if you do make a 9 conference game schedule with two permanent opposite division opponents, it pretty much defeats the original benefit of switching to 9 SEC games; that puts the East teams right back at playing the other West teams once every 5 years, with the full home and home cycle taking 10 years.

You can't have 1 division with UF, UGA, UT, and AU
while the other has Bama and LSU only.

Good grief, that is idiocy.
I can't believe so many think it would be a good idea.

Putting Vandy and Ky in the same division makes things uneven. Those two should be split up.

I like this idea. Why? As a season ticket holder, in the upcoming season, I have tickets to:

UT vs. The Indiana State Sycamores
UT vs. The University of Massachusetts Minutemen
UT vs. The Southern Mississippi Golden Eagles

I drive up from Huntsville Al, roughly 220 miles or so for each game.

To be honest, I'd rather stay home.

Why do you think Ole Miss and Mississippi State are in the other?

There is historical, competitive balance currently.

If you want to change the divisions based on what has happened in the last several years, then I can only assume you are a woman.

Both schools have a big edge over Vandy. And ole miss has a big edge over KY. They would be tied If all four schools were competive with each other.

Hubbs said on Sportstalk that he didn't see this happening but he also didn't think that Missouri would be a long term member..said that they don't fit like A&M does...Id like to see Georgia Tech or a NC school replace them.

The only way to do it. I'm down for that.

Sanky says it's not talked about except by the Media, but Gus Malzahn and Pat Dye says they're for it.

It makes sense to switch Auburn and Missouri

Geographically it makes sense, but unless they switch to a 9 game SEC season, it will NEVER happen.

Under the current 8 Game SEC format Mizzo plays Bama on a rotational basis, Auburn will never agree to that as Bama is their biggest rival.

It's better in every way.

The only problem is it ends the Alabama-Tennessee rivalry.

Hubbs is crazy. And it wouldn't be GT, the SEC already has Georgia. But Missouri won't be going anywhere for a long time.
