Auburn vs. Oregon - Official BCS National Championship Game Thread

Im just saying I don't think TN is even in the ballpark with those other teams if the the SEC was not as dominant as they are. And being in the ballpark can win you a NC as Auburn did this year. When your this close to the other teams in recruiting, its all about how the schedule sets up and coaching because you can only play one player in a position at time. I'm really surprised a team and coach with losing records was able to get anything today, but thats the power of the SEC brand.

I wonder why the power of the SEC brand was lost on Lamar Dawson, then? Didn't he notice that we basically won a national championship last month?

This SEC! SEC! stuff isn't why UT was in the same ballpark as those other teams; it's not why 9 SEC teams had top 25 classes. Here's why:

SEC schools pull the top recruiting classes because this is where the players are. It wouldn't matter if SEC schools had lost all five championship games; they'd still get the best classes in the country. It's all about geography.

95 percent of the time, we're competing for southern players against other southern schools, usually other SEC schools. When those other SEC schools have recent championships, it hurts us. If you don't think Auburn's win last month wasn't a factor in Gabe Wright's decision today, you didn't watch his announcement ceremony.

Well its a big loss for TN, but thats inexperience on Dooley's part. The other big SEC teams didn't seem that serious on him. But thats the amazing thing to be about the SEC, even with losing record guys like Dooley and Chizik could get top 12 classes which is enough talant to win the SEC 'if' the right coach is in place.

Its a little more than being located in the Southeast. FSU and Clemson are the only other schools to be in the top 30 in recruiting from the SE. I saw a lot of players pick TN over schools with winning records and better coaches from other conferences in order to play in the SEC.

This is simple. The black athlete dominates football. The Southern States have the highest concentration of such athletes. These states will continue to produce the best football talent. See below

Looks a lot like that NFL players by state thing huh?
Not a coincidence.

Yeah, but... The ACC is also located in the southeast. In fact, they have two schools located in Florida. Now go take a look at their classes in comparison to SEC programs.

Historically, the Schools in Florida land pretty solid recruits.. And the SEC sits right in the talent pool. The ACC...not so much.

Um... yes it does. Sans Maryland and Boston College. But then, there's Tennessee, Arkansas, Kentucky, and Vandy in the SEC. None of the before mentioned schools sit on fertile grounds.
