You know the “Nuremberg Laws” were duly passed laws in 1930s Germany right? So the confiscation of wealth and property for the “crime” of being the wrong race was justified, right?

Yeah, every tyrant is able to pass thase laws. I believe Venezuela also passed those laws.

It's scary that you have that mind set.
The point is these aren't new "communist" laws. These are laws that have been in place for a really long time to punish those who break government laws.

Drug dealers, mobsters, etc have had their stuff confiscated for a long time. So if this Australia case bothers you, you should be up in arms over our War on Drugs and War on Terror.

Heck, owe money to the IRS and see what happens to "your" stuff.

Just look at whats proposed in Victoria State. It's full blown authoritarianism with no recourse by the citizens.

Victoria’s proposed pandemic laws are drawing strong reactions. Here’s what the changes will really mean

The major proposals include:

  • Giving the premier the power to declare a pandemic
  • Allowing that pandemic status to be extended for up to three months at a time without a maximum time period
  • Providing the health minister the power to make pandemic orders
  • Allowing for prison sentences of up to two years for people who knowingly breach a health order and cause serious health risks to another individual
  • A person who fails to comply with a health order and knows that could cause a health risk to others can be fined up to $90,500, while businesses face fines of up to $452,500 for breaching the rules
  • Creating an independent pandemic management advisory committee
  • Allowing people experiencing financial hardship to apply for lesser fines

In the US you are allowed to ignore all citations and never face any consequences. We aren't commies after all
You can especially ignore any fines or citations if you have a D next to your name. How many Democrats have been caught now defying mask mandates with no consequences? Pelosi, Newsome, Lightfoot, numerous Mayors, even Big Joe himself. And John Kerry has been photographed TWICE on flights without a mask which is supposed to be an automatic fine.

Looks like that is the second appeal. Is that the system for all citations? Just not sure if that's something understood in Aus prior to covid

From the what I understand talking to friends down there it's all fines even before covid. It was never easy to fight citations.

Well that seems nuts. Have the audacity to challenge us? Here's some extra fines you peasant

If you break the law here... the same thing happens.

You guys are going full R word.

Not exactly. Plus the "law" (as it pertains to "covid") down there is decided by 1 or 2 people depending on the state, not legislation.

Liens on property, garnishing wages, levying on bank accounts, suspending drivers' license. Tell me the big difference.

In AU if you are issued a citation by the police or any of the other numerous agencies authorized to issue citations, you first have to appeal to the agency that wrote you the ticket. If they refuse to cancel it, or reduce it you can ask for a hearing in from of Magistrates Court but they are not required to give you a hearing. If they do grant you a hearing the Magistrate can and often does increase the fines and you are now pegged with a criminal charge instead of a civil penalty.

Yeah, I definitely put drug lords and a terrified young mother afraid of letting the government inject her child with a barely tested experimental treatment into the same moral category </sarcasm> 🙄

Government doesnt care. Seems like some people hear only care because its finally hitting them, or people they identify with.
