Who is watching? I know we have a few tennis fans aboard the nation. I'm sure we will once again see Federer and Nadal in the final.

My wife is a huge tennis fan. We have been watching it. The new surface claimed it's first victim to injury yesterday in the first game of the first set. I forget the name of the girl that was injured, but I think they should rethink that surface.

I didn't realize they were new surfaces. It makes me long for the heat watching in the winter. I'm on the late shift this week, so I'll be wide awake to watch when I get home.

The new surface is much more gritty and players that like to slide are gonna pay the price. Most times these players are able to slide a little bit on hardcourt, but this court will grab hold of you. I'll be interested to see how many get injured as a result. Hopefully no more.

Yes, and with the majority of players, nowadays, growing up as dirt-ballers there are that many more that try to slide on hardcourt. Not a good idea at the Oz open.

They are not challenging at the Australian Open? It took me a while to get use to seeing Chris Fowler, I associate him with College Gameday.

I haven't heard any complaints yet. But when a few people get injuries I imagine there will be some noise. Fowler has no business being on a tennis broadcast. He's a nice enough guy, but clueless when it comes to tennis.

i haven't got to watch any of the matches yet. I was really hoping to see the Sharapova-Davenport match, but i was sleeping. The women's side has a number of players that can wind up bringing it home, while I think there's no doubt it will be Federer beating someone, with that someone most likely being Nadal or Roddick.

I didn't see that match, I'm sure you heard Sharapova won in two sets. (6-1,6-3) I was watching the end of the Roddick-Berrer match this morning, Roddick coasted through the first two sets then he was down 3-0 in the last set. He came back to serve for the match. There were some crazy shots in that match and Connors was having a laugh. It could be Roddick and Nadal in the quarterfinals.

still haven't got to see much of it.. who looks like the favorites? Sharapova dominated Davenport, the Williams sisters look good, but I haven't heard anything about Henin, Jankovic or Mauresmo.

I haven't seen much of the ladie's play just caugh a few of the men. That Baghdatis looks good.

i just see the men's game as a three man race. Nadal/Roddick winner vs Federer. Everyone else is just kidding themselves. Maybe it's the eye candy, but I prefer watching the women play.

when I was playing back when, I followed the men's game closer so I dunno.

Federer is a smart player, he can get his opponent running all over the court, wearing them out. He makes Tennis look easy. I think some players could beat him.

you gotta make federer run and keep him running to have any chance. He takes complete control of his matches and it's over. It's sad that so many people don't understand they are missing the chance to watch one of the top 3 tennis players of all time.

problem for everyone else is that Federer can take control of points off either side and from anywhere on the court. his forehand is THE best weapon in tennis, but he has about 5 others with almost no weakness.

exactly. if you can manage to keep him running, he can struggle. But it's next to impossible to keep him running.

he has made the game unwatchable for me. he's awesome, but the predictable nature of the big tourneys just makes them terrible TV.

i typically watch the beginning of all the quarters, semis and obviously the championship match, but if he goes up easily 2-0, i typically find something else to watch or do and just flip back occasionally.
