nice angle. one I definitely had not thought of. Does it work for wives, you reckon?

Absolutely. Marrying the top ranked tennis player in the world who just happens to be loaded would be one of if not my greatest feat. If Ana becomes #1 and I marry her instead, well that's just gravy.

holy shiite, we weren't talking marriage. That's a new level of complexity. The light switch could handle the horse head thing, but I don't know how do overcome the marriage piece.

You two can join Nat Gulbis and I for New Year's if you like...

Sounds good owh. As for you bmfpv, I could get past the face, especially when she made my student loans disappear in a matter of seconds and not even take a real financial hit. But I also don't have near the problem you do with her.

really don't have that big of a problem, just making conversation.

However, while talking about fantasyland activities, she would be way, way, way down the list.

Federer hasn't been a monster in this match, but his backhand appears to be back somewhat. If he's coming over that thing well, he's untouchable on this surface.

Great start for Serena and she has a very easy road through the first few rounds. She's easily the US's best chance for a winner.

If she's in shape and cares, she's easily the best chance period.

I didn't think she looked as solid as Jankovic did yesterday and I still stick with my prediction that Dementieva will make quite a challenge.

She didn't play that well, but she's the best player.

If Dementieva keeps serving like that, she won't leave the quarters.

Ana still not top notch, but is looking much better in her round two match. Her serve isn't bad, but the toss leading up to it is very shaky. I always sucked at that, but I never even sniffed at a number one overall player rating either.

Flipkens was definitely one of the 2,492 up and comers on the women's side, but I never expected her to challenge Jankovic like this. Of course I knew nothing about her except that she moved 170 places up the rankings last year.

Delic with a nice 2 sets down comeback win over Mathieu last night.

Yea, that was quite remarkable. Jokeovic looked good as well last night. Perhaps he will be able to handle the pressure of being with Federer and Nadal.

Love to see Delic drop the hammer on him. He has a chance in any match because he can rain some serves.

I have been enjoying this coverage, working late so able to watch the matches. I'm with you on that BPV.

i can't ever figure out if i'm watching today's coverage, tomorrow's coverage or yesterday's coverage...or whatever coverage depending on what side of the world you live on.

I have been under the assumption that it is live footage and I did the math when I saw one of the clocks and figured out that Melbourne was 16 hours ahead of us over there, making it Thursday afternoon. With the whole dateline thing, I am probably wrong.

I would give anything I have if Mary Carillo would come down with a case of laryngitis for the next week and a half...

I've got nothing against Carillo, I sort of like her different style. But I understand that several pros aren't big fans of her criticisms. I know Agassi and Maria have both whined about it.

Give me Johnny Mac anyday. If he doesn't cover the US Open, I'll be ticked at ESPN.

anybody know where to find some kind of schedule that shows when live matches will be on here in the USA?

i'm too lazy to look.

Mac and Gilbert are tolerable, the rest I could care less for. The non-stop prattle between every point kills me.
