Awful Decision From McCain Camp

I'm not trying to rationalize them in the least. I find all comments of that nature reprehensible, whether from the Dem, Repub, Minority or Majority side.

We agree.

And I think that's what Obama believes too when he said he was "outraged" and called Wright's remarks "divisive and destructive." Maybe Obama's criticism was 20 years late. But he's said it.

but the problem with that is that he has shown a willingness to say anything to anyone if it's politically expedient. However, that's not any different than any politician we've had over the past century. I think that's Volinbham's issue. Obama isn't this Washington outsider that he has painted himself to be. He's simply a vote collector.

I would call that political expediency, to be fair I wouldn't believe a republican if he was a member of the "Aryan Nation Church" and claimed not to have heard or believed the rhetoric there either.

At the time I didn't pay it much attention. But since you and others have brought it up repeatedly and seem to think it's relevant now, I'd appreciate if you would rationalize them for me now.

I won't rationalize them but they were made in passing when speaking off the cuff about Strom Thurmond. It was a throw away comment. He was trying to say nice things at a retirement event. I strongly doubt Lott deeply believes segregation is a good idea.

Obama called for the Republicans to force Lott out for this single comment yet he listened to much worse from his own minister for 20 years without saying anything.

I don't see Obama as unique in his situational outrage but it's there none the less.

And I also think that if she were right, why didn't Sharpton or Jackson or Keyes do any better than they did in recent elections? Isn't she saying that any black man could've achieved what Obama achieved? If she'd said that any white man could've achieved what McCain achieved, or what Bush has achieved, or what any U.S. president in history has achieved, would that not be construed as a racist remark?

I don't think that's what she was saying at all. I believe she was saying that certain parts of the country and media were extremely receptive to Obama partly due to his race.

I don't believe it is racist to suggest that certain white people wouldn't vote for Obama - why would it be racist to suggest certain white people (or black people) support Obama in large part due to his race?

Do you believe his race has helped in his positive press coverage? Is saying that racist?

man VinBham,

I use your name in vain one time and you spring in here nearly immediately, ready for action.

My bad.

I love this......now Obama hates half of himself. Man, you guys are going to have him with Hitler before November.

We repubs can see this election for what it is...... No matter who wins we all lose. The dems out there may think he is what they want or need but look under the hope and change platform and you find very little substance. The only real policy plan he has come forward with is considered a mistake on both sides of the isle.

I agree it is hard to tell where he is at on many issues.

IT IS FUNNY THEY DONT HAVE ONE SINGLE POSITIVE WORD ABOUT OBAMA
I actually think he is a great orator and can sway crowds. Beyond that, there is very little upon which he and I agree.

He's a big gov't socialist, a liberal elitest, has ties to some folks with a race based agenda (including his wife), will tax me personally to death and knows nothing of international relations.

Not sure I'm part of "they" but I've repeatedly said I find the man to be quite engaging and excellent at motivating people into action.

I strongly disagree with his policies and find his schtick of being above the political fray while practicing the politics of old ironic.

In his speech at AIPAC today, he called McCains claims about his (Obama's) plans for with direct talks with Iran to be "willful mischaracterizations". Yet somehow he doesn't see his repeated use of the term "Bush's third term" to also be a willful mischaracterization.

That is how I would put it!

He did well today at a private fundraiser today here in Memphis. As long as he doesn't start spitting out socialist liberal ideals, he's fine with me.

I doubt you know what "liberal" means. If you and some of your fellow right wing posters did, you wouldn't use it out of context so often.
