You are going to have to take that NIL talk up with Nolen. He came out and said if it was just about NIL he would have been at UT.
Walter Nolen responds to rumors of NIL money playing a factor in his college decision
Good! I’m glad our staff did this. You cannot build a sustainable program with players like this. If they are only in it for the money, then they are only in it for themselves, and will not be a team player. This program is where it is so quickly, because of great coaches and players, who were committed to the team first.Staff was laying out the itinerary. All.they wanted to know was how much $$. The staff said have a nice day and they left.
NIL does tend to level the playing field for the schools who did not pay as muck to as many as Alabama, Ohio State Georgia, etc. have paid in the past. Maybe in a few years, a cap may be -laced on how much NIL $$$ can be spent by schools each year.
Garner did his pitch. NIL numbers weren’t mentioned…offered what his coaching and development gets you in the NFL. You’re right that Nolen’s handlers felt insulted…particularly his dad. But it was more than a hi/buy presentation. Spyre talked to him separately about numbers.Staff was laying out the itinerary. All.they wanted to know was how much $$. The staff said have a nice day and they left.
SCHOOLS aren’t involved in NIL financing. Caps require a partnership between these businesses and universities. That ain’t happening.NIL does tend to level the playing field for the schools who did not pay as muck to as many as Alabama, Ohio State Georgia, etc. have paid in the past. I think Jay Hardy’s recruitment at Auburn broke something in Garner. He’ll still recruit the 5 star but if he whiff’s any entitled stank? He cuts bait and goes for the next kid he can work with.Good! Pretty much. Tennessee has more money than a lot of people realize.Bama's reputation is likely to take a hit with the dominance of UGA and the resurgence of UT and AU. When Saban retires, they will be much more dependent on NIL, which really isn't their strong suit. While they were fine with cars and cash, there really isn't enough wealth in the state to compete with top NIL programs long term. One predicts Bama's demise at their peril, but from a purely demographic perspective, the trend is likely down over the long term.
Won’t happen. For them to dictate what companies can pay out, they put their own business on the table…like broadcasting moolah. Collective bargaining is a thing. As is, the universities get to maintain their facade and reap billions as a stage for “amateur” competition. Businesses get to develop profitable marketing relationships with potential athletic stars and in the process those athletes get PAID. No benefit for the NCAA to jump in the scrum and offer up their coffers. Someone else is paying for their product. They might be and probably should be in the future
Not what I was told but whatever.Garner did his pitch. NIL numbers weren’t mentioned…offered what his coaching and development gets you in the NFL. We will drive the stake through their heart on the third saturday in october in 2023.Bama's reputation is likely to take a hit with the dominance of UGA and the resurgence of UT and AU. I believe our staff has said this to more than a few, since NIL started. I believe that's what happened with Jared Verse and 1 or 2 more transfers last year.Staff was laying out the itinerary. All.they wanted to know was how much $$. The staff said have a nice day and they left.
