Azzanni excited about our receivers

From 247;

"Freshman receiver Josh Malone continues to impress everyone with his smooth, polished style, and one source told us junior-college transfer Von Pearson has “some of the best ball skills I’ve ever seen.”

"Tennessee football source on January receiver enrollee Von Pearson: “His feet are so quick that I think half the time even he doesn’t know where they’re going. He’s a special talent.”

Coaching staff needs to quit playing around and just let Fergy be the q.b. Dobbs, Peterman or Worley won't be able to get the ball to all of these receivers, plus tight ends, plus backs on screens.

Put a real passer with a STRONG arm in the line up and not waste all of this receiver potential.

Saw enough drops from Smith last yr to know I never want to see him anywhere near the WR 2 deep this year. If he plays any meaningful snaps we're in big trouble.

Totally disagree with your assesment. Player growth and maturity is huge between freshman and sophmores. It's the reason they used to have freshman teams in the NCAA. It's possible to have two freshmen receivers, both promising; No1 has a good, but not great, freshman year, fans like him but the rest of his career is just good,.. but not great. No2. Great route runner, open all the time and drops a lot of balls so fans don't like him, .. might be a lot or just a little better catching his soph year BUT by his junior year all jitters are gone, his route running is much better than his first two years and he's not just good but great.

I definitely wouldn't be counting Josh Smith out. He's a worker.

Have a friend who works with the staff. Says Ferguson isn't any better than Dobbs or Peterman. It's funny--you think Ferguson is so good yet you know nothing about him. Looks like it's gonna be Worley, so get over it.

Don't give up on Josh Smith yet. You can't underestimate what nerves can do to you. He was just a freshman. Let's give him some time.

And just think it wasnt that long ago that we had a yr when Lucas Taylor was our best WR. Glad we have gotten back to WRU. We have 3 potential first rounders going through spring practice in a few weeks. Not saying they are right now but if they live up to their hype then North, Pearson and Malone all have the size, speed and talent potential. With good QB play and if the oline can block and open up holes for the RB's then we will have a fun offense to watch. Not saying it equates into more wins but we should atleast get to a bowl and be competitive in more games than last yr. We have definitely improved in the size and speed catagory on both sides of the ball and '15 is when we should really be starting to compete for SEC East titles

First things first, I doubt you have friends with that kind of attitude. Secondly, you say the dumbest crap all the time and always try to start stuff for no good reason at all, so it's really hard to take you serious. And last but not least, although I agree it will probably be Worley, you need to actually watch Ferguson take a few snaps before judging his abilities.

So someone has a bad attitude if they are honest about a player's ability? That's cute. The only reason people think Ferguson is the answer is because he is the only QB on the team who people have yet to see play. It's more like wishful thinking.

Yeah I remember him saying that. The only thing I can figure it might be is his nerves. Its gotta be if you go from supposedly having the best hands on the team to dropping every other pass thrown your way on gameday.

He probably has Zach Rogers Syndrome.

That guy could drop something glued to his hand until his senior year, and then suddenly, he caught everything within a time zone of him. It was just an odd turn around, IMO.

Except when the game was on the line against Mizzou :( For the most part though ZRogers was bout it his senior year

Certainly free to disagree. Sure he's a great kid, hard worker, even somewhat talented. He clearly was rattled last year on Gameday and in no way could transfer the "best hands on the team" from the practice field. Perhaps he has great growth this year and can contribute as a 4th or 5th WR. I was frustrated with his drops last year, many of which hurt the team's momentum. Guess we'll see what happens. He's immediately at best the 4th WR with the additions of Pearson and Malone. Hope he's gotten past his "nervousness" on Saturdays if he does play any this year.

I agree with the wishful thinking. I believe Worley will look better after he gets coached up and grown up a bit. He was coming around last year. As for the decision making, it was his first year in a new system. Worley has my support.

It's deja vu all over again. Did you pay attention to the progression last year?
Worley loses a game ... the crowd screams Peterman, Peterman.
Petermen rocks the Swamp w a 0.1 qb rating ... The crowd screams Freshman, Freshman.
We finally get a freshman and the team gets stomped repeatedly and loses to Candy at home ... The crowd screams Other FR, Other FR.
(You'll hear it till kickoff 14' too)
No truer words were ever spoken than ”The most popular player on a losing team is the backup QB". That saying should have a Power T beside it if it were in the encyclopedia!

No doubt. One of the most outrageous turnarounds ever. Ever. That guy is in the League!

It's not being honest if you've never seen him play... But that's not what I was referring to. You were being a smartass. Like I said, Worley is the answer IF Ferguson doesn't turn out as well as advertised.

I saw Von Pearson and Neiko Creamer at west town mall today, the size of those guys was nuts! Those dudes are stacked for WR's!! Pearson looks wayyy bigger than 185! Man I'm stoked for the orange and white game!!!!!

I don't really care who it is... but like you apparently I am pretty sick of the "romantic" infatuation some have with the only guy we haven't seen.

IMHO, all 4 have enough physical ability to be more than sufficient QB's. I have a tough time imagining Peterman recovering emotionally but who knows?

Of the guys who have played, Dobbs probably threw the nicest ball but Worley was the most effective at running the team.

But EVERYONE discounting the QB's is overlooking a very, very simple fact about '13. The WR play for the most part ranged from bad to downright terrible. If those guys play better then whoever the QB is will be fine.

The truth in your words is irrefutable, I think. I do believe it will cool down when the advent I know is headed our way makes arrival. It will surprise many but not me because he's been retooling, constructing, and scheming for being the best, and taking down the SEC beasts and the military wannabe. He's coming. if only they had go go gadget arms to carch our qbs passes..

one qb has to step up n be better than our 4th string rocket guy.. qb more important than wr.. have to be above avg to win a championship n currently they r not..:loco:

i know the truth hurts but its a fact ..

Its funny that when you have a real running game, you would be amazed how much pressure is off the QB and they have more time to find someone open.

I think we will be pleasantly surprised with the QB play of Worley this year. I will take a senior QB in the SEC over the other upcoming QB's we have. Connor Shaw didn't have the level of talent as many other SEC QB's, but he brought his will to win and senior leadership every week. I think that is something Worley has the potential to do this year.
I lot love every thing about Shaws game except the team he played for
