He didn't say that. He said how your reference to men was strange. It is. I had to read it thrice and figured despite appearances it wasn't homo.
No doubt. You can boost a kid's confidence without falsely putting him above others that are obviously more capable.
Or, Butch could've been honestly assessing the kid. By all accounts I've heard (Hubbs, Hyams, Rucker, Ainge, etc) the kid was fantastic in practice. Just clearly had difficult time staying poised and confident on Gameday. I think calling Butch a liar here is a bit over the top.
Who called a Butch a liar? I think he honestly believes what he said. I have no idea why, but I have no doubt he believes what he said to be true.
I was replying to the notion that Butch wouldn't say something obviously false just to boost a kid's confidence due to the probability that the kid's teammates would probably resent it.

I think we will be pleasantly surprised with the QB play of Worley this year. I will take a senior QB in the SEC over the other upcoming QB's we have. Connor Shaw didn't have the level of talent as many other SEC QB's, but he brought his will to win and senior leadership every week. I think that is something Worley has the potential to do this year.
Sjt18 implied that Butch may have lied to protect Smith's confidence at the expense of the team. I agree with you. Sorry for the confusion.
