"I am convinced in my heart and in my mind that if the United States fails to stand with Israel, that is the end of the United States . . . [W]e have to show that we are inextricably entwined, that as a nation we have been blessed because of our relationship with Israel, and if we reject Israel, then there is a curse that comes into play."

Bachmann: America ‘cursed’ by God ‘if we reject Israel’ Minnesota Independent: News. Politics. Media.

Bachmann. Right wing poster girl or loony toon?

A quote from a reply to the above mentioned article.....

This is priceless!

Totally absurd. Whether one is some variety of monotheist or not makes no difference. Americans are fighting and dying in an endless war to make the world safe for Israel, and it is bankrupting America in the process. It should be noted that America never had an “enemy” in the Middle East until it had an “ally” in the Middle East.

Even if someone did believe in the Bible for some reason, the "Israel" of today is nothing like the Biblical "Israel." It's a product of the UN.

Which was predicted by the bible that some people believe in for some reason.

was I supposed to somehow divine that you weren't pointing to her opinion here as making her more right wing than independent? I don't buy it.

Maybe the fact that it said "Bachmann. Right wing poster girl or loony toon?" rather than "Bachmann's opinion. Does it make her a right wing poster girl or loony toon?" should have tipped you off. :wink2:

Then you're telling me that the original question was just a senseless collection of words and that the question mark exacerbated the problem.

Seems to me that the original threw out her opinion and asked me to decide between two options as to how that opinion pigeonholes her. No? If not, again, wtf was the purpose?

This certainly isn't the first time the woman has brought the crazy, so my question wasn't based on this specific opinion of hers.

This particular opinion of hers aside, do you think she's a poster girl of the right wing or do you think the majority of the right wing considers her a nutjob?

I think most, aside from the religious right, consider her a nutjob.
