Back to back years of finishing with a better class than Florida

The underlying of college football is so dirty and seamy, I’d suggest to just scrape over the headlines. Read what they want you to read and remember these are students first and athletics is more extracurricular exercise programs. I fear if everyone knew the whole nine yards there would be an exodus of fans and we would lose a lot of the game everyone loves even with its ghastly warts.

Has Georgia fielded an elite QB under Kirby Smart?

5 SECC game appearances. 2 SEC Titles. 1 National Championship. 0 Elite QBs.
Georgia has finished with a top 3 seven years in a row. Multiple NFL draft picks. QB for them hasn't mattered, because they are playing physical football. Then, when they do get some decent quarterback play, they become really hard to beat. Which is of course due to having that much overall talent in the first place.

Actually, the "Experts" don't agree. This century, only 2 programs have failed to play for a National title within 4 years of having two or more #1 recruiting class - FSU and USCw. Only 4 programs- Miami. FSU, UF, and USC didn't play for a Natty after a single #1 recruiting class.

Clemson is the only school to win a title this century without at least 1 Top 10 class, and they had DeShawn Watson. Auburn is another outlier with only one Top 10 class, and that team had Cam Newton and a boatload of luck with 2 miracle plays vs UGA and Bama.

Sorry. It's not as simple as signing a Top 15 class and coaching 'em up.

I suspect I am not the only one pointing this out and I'm too lazy to check, but the miracles against uga and bammer came in Malzahn's first year, and they ended up losing to FSU and Jimbo.

Cam did have an amazing comeback against bammer that year, but he was that good. In college anyway.

SIAP.

UF and UT were basically tied this year in recruiting. Rivals had us ahead by one, ESPN had them ahead by one or two (too lazy to go look it up).

That's not the whole picture though. We have had a handful of portal entries of players mostly buried on the depth charts, and a few will go pro. UF has lost an eye popping 22 to the portal and some are going pro and AR seems likely to

So...in terms of what we currently have, just adding the same amount of talent more or less is a win for us when you look at the big picture.

UF may make up the losses in the portal, but they are going to have to do that.

Since Georgia is the team on top of the East, and currently the entire nation, and Florida is not a threat to actually win the East,...and hasn't been for years...🤷🏾‍♀
