Back to the 60s, Police beating college students

I understand your point. Mine is simple as well. I think these dregs are anti-American worms and their BS is more than a protest.
I happen to think everyone at a MAGA rally is bad for America, and the country would benefit if they went to live on an island somewhere outside the bounds of being able to vote.

Do I actually endorse the notion? Nope. They deserve a voice as much as you. As much as me.

Boo hoo, not the ****ing flag again.

It's a piece of cloth. Symbolism is candy for wavering minds.
My grandfather was on the Arizona on Dec 7 1941.
I assure you that he believed that the flag was worth fighting and dying for. When people do this kinda thing they really should consider that there are others who could take those actions as an attack and decide to defend.

They should protest all they want but think it through enough to know what could happen to them for it.

Umbrella Dome doesn't appear too particularly well thought out.

I was expecting the police to be clearing out some ANTIFA/BLM looters or brick throwers, not snowflakes armed with umbrellas.

Where was this level of police presence in the Summer of 2020 when the Nike Store, CVS and police precincts were looted and burning to the ground?

I swear, some of you clowns never better say anything about The Boston Tea Party or January 6th.

Ben Sasse, us usual, knocks it out of the park.

"At the University of Florida, we have repeatedly, patiently explained two things to protesters: We will always defend your rights to free speech and free assembly—but if you cross the line on clearly prohibited activities, you will be thrown off campus and suspended. In Gainesville, that means a three-year prohibition from campus. That’s serious. We said it. We meant it. We enforced it. We wish we didn’t have to, but the students weighed the costs, made their decisions, and will own the consequences as adults. We’re a university, not a daycare. We don’t coddle emotions, we wrestle with ideas."

If those people take it as an attack and decide to "defend" (this isn't a military engagement), they should be prepared to deal with consequence of committing a violent crime, because regardless of where any man fought and died in service, it's still a piece of cloth.

The consitution doesn't care about our feelings.

I would not condone any attack on a person for pulling down the USA flag and putting up the terrorist flag. You break the law you suffer the consequences.

I don’t condone the murder of the guy wearing the “heritage not hate” t shirt last year. He has the right to wear it. He should have realized that someone might be offended enough to end his life for it. Everyone needs to be smarter these days. If you want to protest then have at it. Just be ready for the consequences, legal or otherwise.

And don’t cry like a bitch when those consequences kick your ass.

That's all fine and good. Everyone pays for being an idiot. However, only one if these idiots is protected by the constitution.

In your scenario, that applies to both parties.

Agreed.
But I’m not talking about the constitution. The point I’m making is too many people think a “protest” means I’m free from consequences. In an ideal world
, (whatever that means to each person) maybe you should be.
In the real world bad **** happens and it seems we have a lot of……naive ( I guess that’s the right word) people who are surprised by that.

Entirely so. We cannot condone violence towards people for exercising free speech.
Is this even debateble? Someone says something I don't agree with, and I condone violence being put on them?

That, sir, is entirely un-American and there's absolutely no argument in existence that can negate it.
I've come to the realization that far too many Americans support Israel over their own country. They offer lip service about being pro-America and the values of the country, but in action, they will support the US violating our rights and sending our blood and treasure to Israel and put them on a pedestal.

And some wonder why these protestors wear masks.

It's 2024. You can so easily be doxxed and, in addition to jeopardizing your job, people can figure out where you and your family live by as little as a photo. I've certainly taken measures to conceal my identity when I demonstrated in my 20's. Too many crazy mother****ers with guns and vendettas out there.

And with the ai updates the masks really don’t help hide your identity. There was someone shot and killed during the BLM protests for responding “all lives matter”.

I’m generally an anti police kinda guy. But the world has gone mad. I have no idea what the answer is but we are clearly at a point where violence happens way too quickly from all sides……kinda the point I was trying to make

The ANTIFA/BLM guys that I recall forming lines and taking on police charges had constructed fairly formidable body shields.

I would have made fun of them had they used umbrellas.
I made fun of them for other reasons.

My outrage for the most part is that it wasn't there.
My tinfoil hat theory is that affluent business moguls weren't willing to use political clout to protect the historical sanctity of retail shopping.
Historic colleges can't just allow their property to get trashed, relocate a few miles, and retain their endowments.
I swear, some of you clowns never better say anything about The Boston Tea Party or January 6th.
Other than protests that got out of hand the three don't have too much in common. I can't promise not to say anything about them, but I'll leave conflating them to unrelated events to you.

I would never lump the herd of cowards from 1/6 with the Boston Tea Party.
