Bad Beats, Monster laydowns...Poker discussion

If folks didn't know, Cherokee is getting another circuit event this fall. Then again in Spring.

This was just BRUTAL.

Saw that live, and thought it was funny, when he say's better lay it down, can't win them all kids..

Then he hits a flush, it was unreal

I haven't seen it with bullets vs bullets but I have seen it happen multiple times (to me as well) with other pocket pairs and identical non-suited cards (still have to catch four suited cards). Always rough to come out on the wrong end of it. Hell, if you come out on the right end, you still feel guilty (at least I have).

Playing online yesterday in a $5000 guarantee, blinds are 500/1000 and we're down to 88 out of 463. Lost about half my stack on the previous hand with kicker issue, but felt that I got away with not losing more on the hand. Now, UTG raises to 2400, folds around to me in the cutoff and I look down at KK. At this point I'm down to around 15k in chips so I just shove. In hindsight, I should have just called and played it out. Everyone folds around to the raiser and he calls with J10D. Flop is a blank, turn 10, river J. Buh-bye! Had I just called the raise, I would have pushed him out on the flop because he caught no piece of it. Oh well.

I've been playing the free rolls on Bet Online Poker. It's the only site that I know of where you can play free rolls for real money without making a deposit. Anybody know of any others?

I'll always remember this one time at the cash game I played with guys from work. 1 guy brought his girlfriend (wasn't really unheard of, so it wasn't weird) who none of us had met. Anyway, they were a couple hands in when I sat down. My first hand was Ace-Something. 2 Aces on the flop, and the 4th came on the turn. I brought the poor girl to the end, she had paired something else. I knock her out on the first hand and then introduced myself to her.

Hindsight that was a dick move lol

I play on Bovada, and I'm pretty sure they have free rolls, but not sure if it requires an initial deposit. I've been on there for years so not sure of their sign-up requirements anymore.

Best laydown:

AQ. I raised 4 times the BB preflop and got one caller (rather quickly).

Flop: A A (inconsequential)

I raise. He reraised. From his body language and play from the start of the hand, I know I'm beat. I fold and show. Everyone else thinks I'm nuts. I look at the other guy and said, "When you're beat, you're beat. Show your big slick". Sure enough, he was so impressed with my fold that he turns of AK.

I don't play online. If I did, there is no way I fold that hand. In fact, I 3 bet there. There is just so much information one loses by not having live action.

I probably check that flop 99% of the time. I'm thinking he probably does too if he is out of position, hoping you bet into him. I'm calling if he bets, thinking I am trapping him, hoping for a paired board or hole card to fill me up. You lost far less than I probably would have. Nice lay down. Don't think I could have that kind of discipline.

Yeah. I would checked the flop normally. I had a feeling from the get-go that I was up against big slick. The flop bet was more a feeler/confirmation bet.

Don't play online anymore, mostly because I got tired of the nut flush draws that would seem to hit 99.9% of the time. Here I am with AK in the hole with a A or K on the flop and some douche would snap call all of my bets. **** online poker. Lol

I don't trust any digital form of poker. Not the digital tables at casino and especially not online.

The wife and I decided to try the digital tables at Cherokee. Within a span of 30 minutes, 2 guys flopped a straight three times against us. Ridiculous odds of that happening. It also just so happens that they were premium (whatever they are called) members and we were the bottom rung members (having never been there). Yeah, nothing fishy about that at all.
