Bad Beats, Monster laydowns...Poker discussion

LOL

In an online tourney. Just made the final table on a great hand.

I'm on the button with QQ and the pot is raised to me. There's a caller in between and then I reraise. First guy pushes all in and the caller and I both call.

At this point, I'm 2nd in chips, and the other guy that pushed first is chip leader. I don't even recall what the third guy had, but he was about 1/3 our stack.

So back to the hand, when we all turn over, I'm at QQ, and they're both at JJ. Haha, they basically had zero outs.

The crap that happens in online poker is unbelievable. Things that you never see in live poker.

One time I pushed with pocket aces and got called called by 2 AKs. Not quite the same but they basically needed both kings or a miracle straight/flush.

Update: won the tourney.

woot!

Congrats... Where do you play? I used to play on full tilt but haven't played since they shut it down. Had about $250 in my account. Last I heard they're supposedly getting it back to us eventually but I'm not holding my breath.

It was just a $2 tourney, but it was a big one. $500 guaranteed, so the payoff was like $120.

Second tourney I've won on there. Been playing about a month or a little less. And I've cashed in several others.

I'm up $2000 over at Cherokee Casino in Siloam Springs from cash games and 2 tourneys

Then when I went back to Chicago to pack and move I lost 400 in Joliet

Nice. I played 4 tourneys today, and spent some time at a cash table.

It's all low stakes, because my bankroll is pretty small right now.

But I came in 1st, 2nd and cashed in 3 of the 4 tourneys. I'm up $15 right now at the cash table. Pretty good day. It's days like this that make me want to go up a level, but I need to get my bankroll up first.

The beginning of the end for Thrasher. I see begging for tickets in your future.

My brother plays up there sometimes. Mostly he goes to Roland Oklahoma and plays.

He gets invites from tunica all the time. I went with him one time. He did pretty well and they paid for our steak dinners and put us up in nice rooms. It was a lot of fun

it is fun, but haven't been in about a month...
funny how when the wife and kids finally move down, the golf and poker dries up

haha another great hand

I'm holding KT on the button and 2 guys limp to me. I raise 5xBB and SB and BB fold, the two limpers call.

Flop comes KKT and I **** myself, but throw out a 2 bet, knowing they'll fold to anything more and hoping they figure me for AQ or something similar. They both call.

River comes another K, and at this point I'm just dying laughing at how ridiculous online poker hands can be. Anyway, so I throw out a 4 bet after they both check and they both call.

River is a 3, and completes a heart flush draw, so I'm hoping one of them just caught a flush and I shove. First guy folds, but the second guy calls and I take all his chips :)

Damn. Suffered the ultimate bad beat.

5 players left in a 3 table sit-n-go tourney. I'm dealt AT(h) and two hearts and an ace come on the flop. So I drop a 1/2 pot value bet and get 2 callers.

The turn comes 9 of hearts and before betting gets to me, the power goes out... For like 3 minutes. It's not even storming.... I hate you KUB.

So by the time I get back in, about 15 minutes later, of course I lost the hand. Somebody probably dropped a 1 bet lol. And the blinds were pretty big at that point, so my stack went from 14,000 chips to about 4,000 chips. I was the chip leader before that hand, and now I'm the short stack.

I outlasted one more guy and went out. Oh well.

So, I was playing in a small stakes, NL tourney at the Golden Nugget. Only 12 entrants, so nobody was getting rich. Made it to final four, top three paid. Small stack by a large margin. Was down to 1.5 blinds left at a couple different points, kept grinding, caught a few cards, and got back to where it was pretty well split amongst the four of us. Four-way chop was proposed and I was more than happy to walk away with money.

Nice, so you tripled up?

Played a low level tourney on bodog (bovada) tonight.

Had AK(c) preflop UTG. I bet 3 BB and got 2 callers. Well, none of the betting is of interest.

Flop came up JT(c) and I was kinda excited.

Turn came Q! Of spaids

River was another J. Got my heart pumping when I saw a black Q, though.

If that doesn't get your heart pumpin' at least a little bit, you may want to check your pulse.

Ya know the only time I've ever got a royal flush in my life I was playing Omaha H/L and had to split the pot with the low hand. After the rake I think I won basically a small blind.

I'm transitioning jobs ATM and haven't played poker in a month or two, I really miss it.

I have only had one royal flush, and it was playing 7card Stud actually, on full tilt.
