I wonder how long this will have the harbor closed, month or two at least. Lost lives and lost livelihoods, terrible tragedy.
Try 2 years

David MacKenzie, senior director of COWI, a British engineering and architecture consultancy firm, said the bridge could be reconstructed in two years “if people get their skates on.”

We need to invest in ship-proof bridges?
He said that “there was nothing unusual about the bridge,” before it collapsed and there “was some ship impact protection in the form of big concrete obstacles. But the ship which crashed into the bridge has “somehow got past those,” he said.

Container ships when the bridge was built in 1977 “were a lot smaller than they are now,” he said, adding that a risk assessment should have picked up on the dangers posed by modern vessels.

People would expect the new bridge “to be more robust,” he added

I am not 100% on that video of the bridge being the same incident. you don't see an explosion like that in any of the other videos. you would think that flash would show up elsewhere. you can kinda see an explosion in some of the other videos, but much smaller, and after the bridge is starting to fall.

not 100% either way, that just jumped out to me.
it appears that video has been removed.

It does look like it from the video. Maybe this wasn’t truly an accident.

It looks like it's taking a hard right just before the collision. That might be due to the power loss and currents.

first, I think that video is sped up, or frame rate is super low. things look a little janky.

second if you look at the port its a relatively small area. part of the maneuver would have undoubtedly had them pointed at towards the support areas that they were supposed to eventually steer around. they lose power at the wrong moment and the ship is stuck going towards the support long before there would have otherwise been an issue. you can see it in that video, the ship is clearly swinging around to go from a side profile to the front silhouette by the time it hits.

It's Baltimore..I'm sure Slojoe will be there today to offer thoughts and prayers. Along with a big check.

CNA Singapore reports that the crew said the ship had 'lost propulsion' and they'd lost control of the ship.
I wonder if they called for tugs and they simply weren't available or not able to get there in time?

I sure am! because the leftist filth and their lapdog media would have done the same had Trump been president.
I can see the headlines now.

“Chaos surrounding Trumps Presidency is leading to major accidents”

Or

“Trumps infrastructure rhetoric is just that. Bridges are collapsing as he plays golf”

CNN blamed Trump when Will Smith slapped Chris Rock. Trump would most definitely get blamed for this!!

Truth is it’s a tragic event.
