It doesn't matter if Bama has won 20 in a row. In no way should we ever even attempt to take them off of our schedule. Football season wouldn't be the same as far as the feeling goes. I enjoy fall afternoons watching the Bama - UT rivalry with my family in Lincoln County (which is on the Alabama border) every year with alot of the locals down that way. The grills are fired up, cornhole and horseshoes being played, drinking beer that's been sitting on ice since the night before, etc. College football in the South wouldn't be the same at all.

They are right in the same sentence when accolades are handed around for recruiting successes. Conversely, look at the recruiting rankings in the SEC E. Not nearly as competitive. Bama faces a gauntlet every year, now. Auburn isn't going anywhere. They aren't going to be just an "also ran" in the West, anymore.

Remember how bad we had it with Florida to contend with every year...even when Peyton was under center. The gators often had a NC caliber team, but would get knocked off by their in-state rivals, FSU.

Bama has to face 3-4 teams like that EVERY year now. It starts having an effect, and remember, we didn't instantly end up in the doldrums...it was a steady decline. So, no...this is not a "we gonna beat them Bamers" thread.

It's a "Damn...look at slug-fests they have to endure now!" Oh, and "Damn...they got Kiffin to screw things up for them, now," too. :)

Bama won national titles in 2011 and 2012 after bad days at the office. And had the new playoff been in place in 2013, Bama would have been in it despite the loss to Auburn.



Bama went 12-0 in the regular season in '08, and went undefeated all together in '09. You seem to be a real history buff.

We lost 9 of 10 in the 70s. Feels exactly the same.

They aren't declining, everyone else in the SEC has gotten better but are still trying to get where they are.

It may be tougher for them in the West but they still ain't sweatin the Vols, yet.

I'm not seeing Bama on the way down. The lost a bunch of seniors but they have loads of talent behind them. You can probably expect a slight drop off early next season with some new starters. But, I doubt that last more than a few games. That is unless Kiff messes then up really bad. You got to think bringing him in is going to cause more scrutiny from the NCAA. Until something happens you can still expect them to be an elite team though.

As much as I hate to say it Bama won't go into decline until Saban is gone. He is one of the greatest to ever coach the game.

They've won 3 of the last 5 NCs and they just secured perhaps the best recruiting class ever....how in the world are they going down? They're not going anywhere til Nick leaves.

What I want to know is will LSU challenge Bama this upcoming season? They seem to be the most unpredictable every year.

Can't do much better recruiting than what Bamer has done the past 5yrs or so...but, when you consider how well Bama's division rivals are recruiting, as well, they are in for a tough ride.

LSU and A&M had No.2 and No.3. Auburn was like No.8. All you have to do...the Denver Broncos can attest to this...is simply have a bad day. One bad day at the office and there goes (usually) a shot at the NC.

Not to burst your Big Orange bubble, but even though Butch and the boys brought in one helluva recruiting class, we got a long road ahead to the top. On offense, the QB spot is wide open, a whole new offensive line, and though we have some promising new backs, right ends and receivers, they are still unproven at this level.

A whole new D line, and a bunch of, as before, highly touted, but still unproven skilled defenders.

Let's wait until the spring game before we talk about Bama having to contend with us. The only new weakness Bama has now vs. last year is their offensive coordinator. If by the time they roll in here and if our Vols can avoid injuries, we have some hope, but will still be underdogs.

As much as I think you are wrong, I hope you are right.

I think their deal is not being able to recruit an elite QB. They seem to do pretty well at every other position...but haven't really had that QB other teams hate to face...not for a while, anyway.

Again...this ain't about us vs Bamer. It's about Bamer having to go through a gauntlet of teams that have been and are recruiting as well as they have been. It's helped Auburn sneak up on 'em this year. TAM the year before. It used to always be just LSU mostly.

My point is Bamer would be very lucky from now on, to get by with just one loss in a season. They were considered heavy favorites to repeat this year, got beat by Auburn and Oklahoma. Effectively had the same kind of season we had in 99. It went downhill for us after that.
