Bama radio claims noise piped in at Neyland

Why Debore ever took that job is beyond me - everyone knows you don't want to be the guy that follows the legend.
You want to be the guy that picks up the pieces after that guy.
He would have been better served staying in Washington and owning the B1G for a year or two.

I too would be surprised if he makes it past next season - you aren't going to post more than two three plus loss seasons with those expectations.
So...........Ray Perkins (32-15-1) or Bill Curry (26-10-0)?

Curry was treated worse than Perkins but had a better record. In fact he was voted coach of the year in 1989 and took the Tide to the Sugar Bowl but quit to coach Kentucky because Bama didn't give him a raise and took away his firing and hiring privileges for assistant coaches.

Bama will chew through coaches like nobody's business until they luck into one that works. Hell, they wanted Rich Rod over Saban.

I used to live in Alabama, this does not surprise me. I've witnessed first hand how ignorant these Mooks really are. 🤣
I was a UT coop student working in Guntersville, AL in the midst of our 82-86 run. My true hate for everything Crimson came from living amongst them when we were kicking their butts. Tennessee company with orange and white trucks driving around G'ville and Sand Mt dealing with some pissed off Bama rednecks. One guy wanted to bet paychecks on the TN/Bama game in 82. I told him, "Nah, my paycheck is for beer money at Ivy's and subs at Sam N Andy's. Your's is for a trailer payment. I can't have that on my conscience."

“I misspoke, but it really wasn’t, in theory, off. I said that you have 100,000 (fans) and piped-in crowd noise. Which is not what I should have said. What I should have said is amplified noise. And that’s clear they do it. They’ve got speakers all on the field level behind our benches pointing toward the stands.”
I cannot speak on how it's done in Bammerland, but what he said still doesn't make sense. Think about this: there are speakers on the field. Those speakers are pointed towards the stands not the field. If UT wants to amplify noise to disrupt the opponent, wouldn't those speakers face the field??? Why would UT want the amplified noise pointed towards the crowd?

It is crazy how this continues to be a story!

They absolutely know it is not true - the crowd is just loud, and all the sound goes down to the field of play.

Excuses and an attempt to discredit the win by Tennessee. The crowd two years ago was more than likely just as loud but with Saban as coach, Bama was prepared for it. Bama with the new coach was not prepared. It was obvious from the first play that they had not considered the noise.

No team or coach worth his pay, comes into Neyland or almost any stadium in the SEC unprepared for crowd noise.

Why can’t Bama simply admit our 100,000 seat stadium is louder than their 100,000 seat stadium…..

It is definitely true. Teams that are used to winning just aren't as loud. I remember Neyland wasn't that loud in the early 2000s when I went to school there because they were spoiled from Fulmer 1990s era and were just angry all the time about Tennessee's play.

All this talk made me think if there is actually something to Neyland Stadium. Could the acoustics there just be different and amplify the noise better than some other stadiums and because it louder making people think its piped in noise?

part of the architecture likely.

I kinda wish they would put the overhang on the north end uppers over the south end as well... they'd have to put the VOLS signs on top but fireworks all around the stadium would be cool plus hold more sound in

An old classmate of mine played for UT in the mid 1990s, his dad played with fulmer, and his younger brother played there as well. He said the place is like a giant tube and it feels like the crowd is going to fall in on you because the seating is so steep. And that was before closing in the open end. So yeah, I'd say that has a lot to do with it. And it depends on where your seats are too. The lower I have been, the louder it seems.

Thought I would add a thought or two to this thread about noise at stadiums. Yesterday, I had the pleasure of seeing the Packers beat the Jaquars at EverBank Stadium in Jax. Sat in first row of section 438 (high up) and was astounded by the fact that in between EVERY FRICKIN PLAY, the stadium cranked up the volume on some horrible mind bashing music. They played it from the whistle blowing the play dead to the snap of the ball. Didn't recognize any of the songs and found it very difficult to talk to the people sitting next to me as the piped in music was cranked to the max. What a horrible place to watch an NFL game. Have not been to Neyland in probably 10 years, so just wondering if Neyland cranks up the volume on crap music in between each and every play? God, I hope not!!

No they don't have too - just crank up the fans instead!

I’m beginning to get outright pissed at this. New interview with Deboer on prep for LSU game and he is asked about Neyland and artificial noise and he doubled down and said you’d like to think it’s not but it most likely is. Quickly becoming my most disliked coach. Hope we kill them every year that he’s there.

This is a gift. What we do with this gift is up to us.
Bruiser, you now have a responsibility laid at your feet. Your duty is to have a plan to get this refreshed in the minds of all UT fans on all social media for all TSIO games in Knoxville.
If there is one program above all others we want to feel the Thunder in Neyland every play, that program is Bama.

Make it happen.

I hope other teams catch some strays from Neyland as well. I hope it wakes a beast that was already loud and makes it even louder.

Until the day I die I will believe that Florida piped crowd noise in 2011. I was sitting up high and there was more noise behind me than in front of me, yet the people weren't cheering. My eyes and my ears were telling me two different stories. I had never even heard of piping crowd noise at that time and have never seen anyone else accused of it until now.
