Bang Shootie conversation

That's what I started with. From what I've read, the biggest issues with the 7.62 version are light primer strikes and jams. So far not experienced either.
I’ve got several 762/39 guns. Looking for a VZ58. I shoot a lot of Red army standard in several different guns and never have issues. I can’t imagine an AR being any different.

From what I've read the Russian steel cased had very hard primers. The standard AR firing pin wouldn't strike deep enough causing light primer strikes. If that happens they recommend taking .003 off the shoulder of the primer allowing it to strike deeper. The Jam issues have to do with the M4 feed ramps. Some recommend polishing them. I'll work about that if it surfaces.

The preacher next door text me “target practice?”
“Nope fire ants infestation, think I got most em but might have some mop up and over haul when I get 17 more mags loaded, sorry for the inconvenience”
Now who in their right mind wouldn’t want you to kill all the fire ants?

I had to shoot a coyote last night in my side driveway.
One shot. Nobody called or asked anything.

My neighbors thinking “Damn Slice shooting again “

I've seen Zimmern's episode in which a Mexican fellow slow cooked a coyote in a metal box. I've read hunters' recipes in which one is careful to remove all fat, cut the meat into slivers, and either cook on hot iron for 'yote fajitas, or marinate, skewer, and grill - 'yote satay. All say to cook coyote well done. Apparently, coyotes can carry trichinosis.

1 light strike no jams. Including mag dump.
About 400 rounds
That's awesome. You've fired off double what I have to this point. If the light primer strikes continues, I saw a YouTube video on how to file the shoulder on the firing pin down. You just chuck it up in a drill and hold a small file against the shoulder while spinning it. Doesn't take much.

On a related note, I was at rural king yesterday and noticed they had Anderson AR15 lowers for $49.99. I've paid as little as $39.99 Online but by the time you pay the shipping and ffl transfer, it's much higher. I decided to get one just to have it for a future build. The clerk asked me about 556 ammo and I said I ad some but was always looking. He said he had some in the back that they only sold with new firearm purchases. I asked how much and he said $34.99 for 100 rounds. I said absolutely.

I await the day when the nearby pistol range will once again let customers try out firearms. While Covid-19 is raging, it’s bring your own.

I wanted to try out a new trap/skeet range. They recommended first time with an instructor. I booked one. He had to cancel - was quarantined due to possible exposure. I’ve not made a new appointment. Too busy attending to Fall landscaping projects and chores.

I sold a few things and cleared out so I bought a Ruger PC Charger. They had a 500 round 9mm deal for those who bought a gun. 169$. So I bought ammo too.

How do you "preserve" and store an old gun outside of your safe? I have an old 10 gauge single shot that I want to simply clean and put up. Silicone bags?

I only give my 2 cents because I was just talking to a buddy of mine that's a gun shop "groupie" last week about this very thing. Obviously clean it first. He suggested silicone gun socks, under 10 bucks on Amazon. And he also suggested storing it muzzle down to prevent oil seeping down in the stock. He said to obviously make sure it was secure as not to fall over.

That's all I gots.

That’s pretty much it.

Thanks Behr! This gun was my Great Grandpa's and I would be afraid to shoot it. I am going to clean and gun sock both it and my Grandfathers old pump gun. Just stand them up in the back of a closet in the house.

One of those things.

Never woulda thunk to store it muzzle "in the ground"....just the way I was taught as a kid. Makes sense tho.
