Bang Shootie conversation

Gun tax being talked about for every gun you own or you can turn your gun in. If not paid you can go to jail. Wtf

if it happens, most people will pay the tax for their firearms and a small # of high capacity mags. Government will wind up having to buy a lot of magazines and trash guns and they have to pay market value or it's a taking. Magpul will make a shizton on 10 round mags. even then, Scotus could say it's an effective ban and violates 2A. Red states will no more help enforce it than Cali helps ICE with border security and Colorado helps the DEA with marijuana-related offenses.

Georgia is important
Georgia is definitely important but it takes 60 votes to bring the bill to a vote in the senate. If they change the rules to allow simple majority then it opens the door to all kinds of challenges. I think they are floating the idea to see how people react but in reality it will be very hard for them to pass this and make it stick.
Recently SCOTUS ruled that the ACA could not tax people without insurance as it was an unfair and undue burden on the poor. SCOTUS has also ruled that you cannot tax after the fact for the same reason. Additionally You cannot ask people to pay a tax on things they already own. They could potentially add the NFA tax to all future purchases and ask people to register their guns with out the tax but that has all kinds of problems too.

How could they tax magazines? There’s no serial number on them. No way of determining what items have been taxed.

This is honestly where the fighting will start I think. Not trying to get political in here, but they've moved in politicians who are anti gun to try and turn the state, and it's gonna be ugly if they try something that stupid. Add in their hypocrisy, like Abrams running for governor promising to take guns while walking around ATL with members of black panthers armed with "assault" rifles. I'm independent, but there are some major radicals promising to grab guns out there. I'm afraid it'll eventually get ugly.

I assumed they'd use a serialized, tamper-proof decal. I was imagining people 50 years from now with mag "repair" kits where there is a little cut out to stick a chunk of plastic the size of the decal.

I think they seriously misunderstand the commitment to the 2a.
